Dealers near us seem delusional. With both trucks it was a battle to get them near where other dealers 1-1/2 - 2 hours away were quoting me right off the bat. Ran into the same thing when I was looking at Tundras before.

I tell them look, I know I can go to Albany and pay invoice because they already gave me that pricing. I'm willing to go a little higher for the convenience of dealing locally, but this is a lot higher.

Well I hope the private sale on the 4 runner goes well because trading at the dealers are what I hate. I struggled to get anything close to KBB low trade-in on my Sierra. You're lucky to have a Toyota though.

Ive had the same talk, and they act surprised when I bring new cars to service I didn’t buy there. Oh well we can only try!

Agreed. We will price a couple grand under what the websites say dealers are charging and hope it goes well. All dealer maintained so there’s a trail too.

I was a few hundred over invoice on this truck. Since I didn't order, I think I may have been able to be as much as $1000 less elsewhere but I was looking for such a rare truck that I didn't have options on other lots.

They did do well on trade, I'll give them that.

    Ok, brain trust question.
Is this due to something I did or do the Eibach springs made for ToyTech just suck?
-Less than 4 yrs and 20k miles.
    -Hybrid bumper and 8k winch.
-5100 clips look like one or two down from highest lift (must be how I set them up, don’t remember)
-Slow and cautious off roading, winch used to pull tractor a few times, haul the truck up a small ski area access road once.

The Registry is like the TSA, the rules are always subject to change. A friend's wife passed away a couple of years ago. When it came time to renew the registration he was advised to remove her name from the registration (I forget why). He had a ham radio plate and when he filed a change of title/registration form he was told that they wouldn't approve the registration change until he proved he was a ham. After talking with his insurance agent, he just decided to get new plates as it was a PITA to get the documentation.

A week later his new registration came with his ham plates renewed.

    Well, they're definitely broken. :notsure:
My experience with coilovers is that sometimes even a good pothole can bust them if they've had enough cycles.

My father died over a year ago and my mom keeps getting excise bills for his old car that she gave away. She sent the town a copy of the RMV gift form with the abatement form and plate return receipt, but apparently that isn't good enough for the town. They won't abate it (they just never respond and when enough time passes it's automatically denied) but whenever she calls them she gets rude people who won't explain why, and they keep sending bills.

I told her I'd tell them they had their chance and she gave it an honest shot but because they made it difficult it's never getting paid now. The threat of unpaid excise is just the inability to renew a license or registration. The person on the bill is dead (they were divorced and it was only in his name), so who cares!

Wow, just out of curiosity I looked up what my truck would trade in at, $44,500 which is $3,500 more than I paid for it. I haven't even made the first payment yet.

When I went in I had a bunch of data points from trade ins for my mazda and a bunch of data points for the truck sale. I gave them mid numbers and said "I'm at this number, we can go back and forth for hours or days, we're here eventually" they took it and we went on our way.

o_O jeebus! But, to be fair, it's close to end of generation on those and people are wanting them before they switch to them new fangled shenanigans.

If I were you I'd bail on it don't you have like 14 vehicles? Get a base model and new wheels and it'll be like a Pro for all intents and purposes

    Ugh. I want to do:
    1. HAM plates
    2. Wildlife plates

And I don't have either, yet, and I don't know that I want to deal with that hassle knowing RI shenanigans.

RI Radio op plates are boring - it's just the wave plate with your call sign. I like Mass's it has a lightning bolt on it.

Don't know if I can combine them or not and do that for RI. I'm happy to pay for it I know I will be, but don't know if they'll tell me "Oh you have radio plates on a tacoma you can't do a charity plate" or something.

Yup..and if it benefits you or them, guess who wins that one every time.

I'll never forget being told my registration was cancelled 4 months prior when I went to change my plate from one car to the other (both of which I owned and had full title to). Even the manager said that. I asked why I was stopped twice in that timeframe and nothing was said. They wouldn't budge and I was charged for a new reg. FU

One thing about NH that is awesome, the way our vehicle registrations work. Everything can be done at the town hall. In Henniker it's a rare thing if anyone is in line in front of me. Everything is so easy except one thing- paying for it. My 2020 truck was over $900 to get plates on.

One of my favorite things about the MA RMV is that you have to pay for your new/ used car tax in cash if you bought it from a private party and didn't pay it at the time of purchase. We do have these things called credit/ debit cards which when swiped through widely available equipment also generally serve as a payment method. ...
