You know what I miss about NH registration? It expires on your birthday.

Now, that may seem like a weird thing to miss. My Mazda's reg expired in October, my wife's in April, my Tacoma's in March. My birthday is in April and wife's in November. Nothing happens in October so there's nothing for most people to trigger "Oh yeah registration is expiring", same with inspection.

    I say for most people.

I'm insane, and keep it as an entry on my maintenance dashboard that I maintain like a crazy person.

(when it gets to <30 it goes yellow, <0 becomes red)

Oh man, that's the thing I hate the most! It's the town and State saying "Happy Birthday Asshole!" Birthday present is a HUGE bill.

Okay, so sell yours and get mine at that auction too!

That makes me think we should be able to get a decent price on ours. May 13th I think we should get the telluride, so time to make it look good and set a high price and wait. If people low ball I can still play the game and find a good middle ground.

Flip. You don't want to do up 10,000 snaps, and velcro is for senior citizens.

Or, you could get a Diamondback

    flip.

Roll gets EVERY SINGLE LITTLE SECTION frozen in these winters.

I may know that from experience. A trifold is perfect.

That's a hard flip, right? Or is it a softie?

Sweeeet. My thought was going to be - if I'm getting a tonneau, it's a tri fold solid flip, not a soft one. Roll up velcro would be my number 2, though.

    Beat me to it!

Still not outside the realm of possibilities, but the 27.5 MTB wasn't nice to lay flat in a short bed even with the wheel removed, so chances are any MTB long distance trips will be under the soft topper. Short distance I'll just freeball it. I don't like the soft topper on there when it's not in use. I took the rails off and everything, takes all of 5 minutes to put it back onto the truck - I'm not water tight, don't have a third brake light up.

Now need to spend the time to get the bike mounting figured out.

What you want is a Bak-flip so that the third section can flip up against the back of the cab. I had a Tonno-Pro soft 3 fold and when I painted Nuno’s cap, I traded labor for his Bak-Flip. It is a nice cover and you can use just about all of the bed when needed.

Wow, it went up quite a bit--I actually have positive equity! $45,500 for me (I think I have more options but the extended cab probably hurts me, I also have about 16k miles on it at the moment). The top of the private party value is about what I paid for it new.

Wow, I just looked at KBB, my trade in value is $10-15k more than I paid last July... Private party top end is $4k higher still. Hot damn!

NADA was even higher for me. Clean trade there is $48k.

Honestly - I might chuck it up on Facebook if someone gave me 36 for a truck I paid 36.5 for and then used for 30k miles.... I might take them up on that! Go back and grab a 17 w/o adaptive cruise, or a down trimmed new or something. TBD I'll think on it.

BUT I quoted your thread because NADA. NADA is what RI uses for vehicle tax - I have to pay 37.10 (I think that's the East Prov rate) per 1k with an exemption (I think it's a 2k exemption but could be wrong on that), based on NADA clean value no matter what the condition is. So I'm paying taxes on the Tacoma which has gone up in value, where as most states say "x amount per year new" or whatever and then reduce it over the years. Nah. NADA changes, so does RI. My coworker had an old Pontiac convertible, was cool but not in great shape, it was worth about 5k. Not to NADA clean value for an old pontiac convertible, was valued at like 50 grand. He left it registered in NH.

But yeah if I can get 36 or even better MORE than I paid for it used, hell I would be fine with grabbing a corolla or something for a few years - was thinking about grabbing an econobox to tool around to get to and from work in, simple i4 fwd NA gasser or something I don't care about. Could be convinced on an SR Tacoma too - would be able to use just about every mod I have on my truck now (other than remote start) on that instead. Bank a few grand, and downtrim where I don't use any of the benefits of the OR package.

Now I'm just thinking out loud. But that's cool to know, very well may toss it on Facebook and see what happens. Could even do a devilish thing and go to a 2019 frontier o_O

These trade-in values are all well and good, until you have to replace what you traded and that's got the same markup. New prices are high right now, and used prices are just nuts.

I put the work in and found a non marked up car! It was hard though, and I havent given up on trying for an actual discount.

But finding one that was what we wanted, and not marked up...I must have called 15 dealers.
