Have you tried doing the helicopter every day, maybe around dinner or at a time when you know they are eating a meal outside?

Lightning is probably a more fitting name for this truck than the old one. But I can see where you are coming from. Marketing guys don't give a shit about heritage.

Hey now... I resemble that remark.
Probably a lot quicker than the old Lightning though...

    Off the line fo' sho'

Buddy's older brother had one of the first gen lightnings with the gasser in it. Chopped the mufflers after the cats and ho-lee SHNITS was that thing loud. We drove it up to Old Orchard one time and our ears were bleeding by the time we got there. 250 horses of loud. Those things were fun :D

Same. Tomorrow's my last day with the company so I'm just cruising on autopilot. Talk about a long freaking week, though.

Nope! 15 years in the tire industry is enough, lol.

I'm moving to a company that builds awnings, 3 season rooms, etc over in Auburn. I'll be doing mostly the same thing I do here, inside support, but during the busy season they'll also probably send me out on installs, or have me work in the factory helping out there. They're doing a big expansion right now, forming new departments and developing new products, so there's a lot more potential for growth. Plus as a bonus they're locally owned, rather than being based in NY.

And if it doesn't work out, I've been assured repeatedly from all levels of management in this company that I'd be welcomed back with open arms. So it's nice to have a safety net.

The big limitations are still the range and charging times for EVs. It'd be really tough to go from a truck that gets ~750 miles to a tank and I can fill up again in 5 minutes to a 300 mile range that takes an hour to recharge at a fast charging station (or at least 8 hours at home).

I drove out to LA and back in March, and Texas last summer - don't have to tell me twice!

I'm on board though, heck - there are some quick charges that go from ~15% to ~85% in like 20 minutes, that's supposedly the "sweet spot" for battery longevity?? something like that. So, I mean, I can see pretty easily planning around that, but even still my last day I drove from Pensacola to DC hammer down AIS all day, that wouldn't have been possible with the stops needed for recharging.

That's awesome. Anything building based is booming right now and likely will be for years to come. Sounds like the perfect gig for Maine as well. Commercial is going to continue on an upwards trend for anywhere rural, and residential in Maine is probably on fire as well. People buying or fixing up old camps that need more living space, summer properties are always going to be huge in Maine... good move.
