Alright, tell me why I should or shouldn't get this thing. It'd be replacing about a 20 year old Mongoose full suspension bike. It's a '21 Vitus Nucleus 275 VRS.

Quick release. If you're looking for a reason not to, the thru axle offerings are reasonable in price too so why not land there instead?

How much is it though - I just bought a full squishy squish end of last year from @Unchained 5150  has quick release but I don't ride some of the harder stuff most people do, I just dink around. Thing's fun.

Just saw it's a HT. I like HT more usually, the full squish was just because it was accessible, I was looking for a HT but rick dropped in and couldn't pass that up.

It's a grand, might be able to get it a little under. The pros, it's an aggressive hard tail, the VRS has a lot of great reviews and he added a dropper post. I was looking at full squish bikes and I'm going to be at least $500 more for something half decent (still used). I know I can get a bottom of the line full suspension bike for around the same price but it won't come with the other components that this one has like a better drive train, tubeless ready wheels, decent air fork, dropper post, etc.

Here's what it'd be replacing. Not a bad bike, it's held up to a lot of abuse.

My other Mongoose is a hard tail. I bought it to attach one of those tow behind wagon things for the kids since I figured the suspension bike wouldn't be good for that. It's a real cheap Walmart Mongoose, I don't trail ride it at all. I figured the hard tail might be good because I'm not going to all of the sudden become an overly aggressive downhiller. I'd like to try them now and again, but I see more trail riding in my future where the hard tail would be the balls for climbs.

That's a nice bike BTW. I am sort of torn between a 29 and 27.5. I'm short so I do think 27.5 would be better for me but, in the end, I don't think it will matter much the way I ride.

Most phones have sealed-in batteries because they can put larger capacity batteries in that way, and it's better to keep the phone water proof/resistant. My phone has a 4500mah battery, which lasts me two days. It typically only takes maybe 20 minutes to bring it up from 15% to about 90%. I had a couple phones in the past with multiple or extended batteries because their battery life wasn't great.

Not too up on mountain bikes but looks nice. Maybe you should get an old BMX instead.

True, I can see the advantage to the design..it's just not something that is a huge deal for me. I'm a minimalist on phones anyway, and being on a business plan severely limits my options as well.

Speaking of LG phones, anyone have a ThinQ and if so want to buy the screen splitter? Branny new

Honestly, I wouldn't. QR for starters.
Look for a Salsa Timerjack. Many levels. Modern equipment, even with lower groupset. Upgradeable, and at current standards, so, parts are everywhere, and will be for a while.

100% I would love another second gen bed as a trailer just don't want to fork over a bunch of $$$ for it

Yours about the height of my buddy Jake that I normally ride with, he picked up a Cannondale trail 6 as a starter bike to get into it and loves it with the 29" wheels

I looked up the Timberjack, that thing is a little out of my price range. Looks to be in the $2,500 range. Once I start scraping the ceiling of $2k, I'd think hard about a brand new Polygon Siskiu T7. The draw to the Vitus is the components I'm getting at the sub $1k price point. Noted on the quick release, I can keep sniffing around for thru bolt wheels and see what I come up with but I think that will honestly put me much closer to $2k. Keep in mind, the alternative is run the Mongoose hard until it really gives up the ghost. That thing has terrible geometry, quick release hubs, cable operated disc brakes, old school gearing (3x setup) and crappy, non-adjustable suspension. I'll keep poking around, I found a Kona Satori and a Nukeproof Mega but both got snatched up really quick.

Happy Friday! Going camping after we finish packing and I see if I can fix the vent above the bathroom. The cover disintegrated. Good thing I have a maxxair cover over that

Understood. Haven't priced one in bit, and I have had mine for a couple years. I remember some models being closer to 1k..could be losing my mind though(likely). The SLX is 1800, in either 27.5+ or 29er(mine is plus)
The Boost spacing has been around for a while, looking at anything used?
The Fuse isn't bad, just preferred the TJs feel.
Been wanting to replace my full squish(29er)... but, not getting enough use at the moment to justify it.

I'm looking at PinkBike for used bikes.

I'm an idiot, I was looking on my phone and found the Timberjack GX. Looking on my computer now, I see the less expensive models. The issue with new is availability. I'm not in a rush, but new I'd have to realistically wait until next year or later this year. Lots of places don't have bikes to sell, it's nuts. That said, I'd imagine a lot of people who bought new bikes thinking it'd be great to 'get outdoors' and then realizing it's a lot of work and not using them and will be unloading them next year. Maybe it would make sense to beat the Mongoose this year and target next year for the new bike.
