There's still another way in, IIRC it's just really steep.

Does anyone have a GPS location of the cave itself? Is it near the mountain or the quarry? I am looking on my On-X offroad trail app to see the trails around that location. Freedley Quarry right?

Last time I went up there we went in one way and out the other. It was just super overgrown however it does come out to another quarry.

Yeah the back side is "stock friendly", can be done though. But that might be gated too. TBD. I am up in VT this weekend, but that's kind of out of the way coming back down Sunday.

 it's like the least well kept secret for wheeling in New England, can post it up. Not like we can go there anymore anyway :D Besides - people walking up post up the location all the time on hiking pages.

Most people go up the main trail but there is the back side, it's just more complicated so most people don't go that way. It's easy enough to find though, I just haven't been up that way myself.

I cut mine up and threw it in the recycling. I couldn’t even give it away. Literally had it on CL for free at the end and didn’t get any bites.

What years is that? I know someone with one, but not sure if they want a drop in liner.

    '15 to '20.

I went with a BedRug this time around, which I doubt would be great with a snowmobile, so I'll probably keep it just in case I make a solo trip somewhere. But if someone gave me $50 it would be gone. It is kind of an eyesore in the yard.

If they have a '21- or if any of you know anyone with a '21 f150, see if they want some WeatherTech mudflaps. My boss bought a '21 f150 almost 2 weeks after I bought my '20, and he ordered some WeatherTech mudflaps front and rear, but his truck is an SCS Black Widow build and has these huge fender flares, so they don't fit. He gave them to me thinking I could use them and doesn't want them back, but the '21s are a new gen so they don't fit my truck. I would love $40 for them, they are brand new, but honestly if no one takes them they are going in the dumpster.

Fyi for those of you asking about the Dorset caves... Possibly shutdown (legally no one has confirmed lots of speculation) from two of the entrances.

Lame, glad we got up there last Fall then. Guess the radar tower will have to make due to the gram "overlanding" shots.

Damn! I saw the front was gated - news that the back is dug up. That said - there are no "no trespassing" signs, etc so - that's probably just a couple angry locals rented a digger for a day.

I saw those posts too. I’m bummed as I haven’t been up there and it looks like I prob won’t. I am worried that the overlandong apps I see advertised to me are going to get even more places shut down.

I saw a couple posts about OFR getting a gate as well

To be fair - Dorset caves, and OFR, and the RI spot - all the least well kept secrets for wheeling in New England. Doesn't take a degree in surveying and geology to find those.

But still a bummer. The RI spot was the police, I'm sure there were local complaints here and there but they started cracking down after the shenanigans over this winter. I'll stay quiet about my opinion on Dorset for the time being re: "locals"

The thing is it's owned by the town of Dorset, at least according to GAIA property owner overlays. So it would have to be the town doing it. It may have been that the locals complained and got the town to gate it. Not sure though.

I just scrolled through the Town of Dorsets town meeting minutes from the past 5 months and didn't see anything on it there. Doesn't mean the town didn't do it though and it's not in the meeting minutes.

Oh, you've never seen locals block off paths on town property without town permission?

yes - to do it "officially" would be the town. According to the town site there's one road/path that's closed, but I don't think it was up to these caves.

    Damn you're good. And fast.

I would think the town would do more than drop an I beam across a path and dig up another path without signage.
