Damn. Yeah I do mine too - fuelly style, I think total is about 20 year round, 21 summer/19 winter ish.

^^^ This nailed it. Competition. Ram trucks are actually relatively decent, but Ford is doing so good right now, why would you buy a dodge? Everyone who would be buying wranglers was waiting for the broncos for a while. Their sedans are shenanigans though so that makes sense that nobody wants those.

Then you get the "I just want an A to B machine" people, and the news says "A to B machines are expensive" so they say "My A to B machine can last another couple years until the news says it's cheaper". That's the dodge crowd right there

I'm surprised it's that high too. Mine is 1744 and the SuperCabs have a 100 lb payload advantage over crews, so that would put it right in that mid-1600 lb range if it were a 145" crew cab.

I do have the big gas tank which I think is nearly a 100 lb hit, factory bed liner subtracts 45ish, 20" wheels, and some miscellaneous 502a stuff that probably adds up too.

@tacobell007 another option is to just use dealer financing, then immediately go to DCU or similar and re-finance. There's nothing to say you can't do that. A lot of times if you don't use dealer financing or use cash they tack on another $500-1000 because they make money off in-house financing and they figure price assuming that. That's what we did when we bought my wifes 4runner. Got a decent deal as far as buying a toyota is concerned, but had to use dealer financing. The lowest interest rate they could get was something dumb like 5.7% or something. This was with her having excellent credit, not needing a co-signer or any of that nonsense. After taking delivery we immediately went over to DCU because we had already talked to them about rates and been pre-qualified there. Before the first payment she re-financed with DCU and if you opened a checking/ savings account with them and set it up auto-pay the loan with one of those accounts like Pugga said they were able to beat the prime rate by 0.5%. The cars since been paid off, but iirc she had an interest rate around 3% (on a used vehicle!) vs the ~6% from the dealer. Plus, when rates dropped as long as you've made steady payments for 6 months you can re-finance with them (i think if you stay with DCU it also didn't cost anything) and drop your rate further.

Your 502a sunroof eats like 250 lbs of payload right there. And yes, mine is only the 26gal tank so I have that advantage. My truck was almost certainly special ordered as a fleet lease with the highest capacity payload by design. It's got the 3.31 rear axle but also the HDPP which seems strange but it's working out great for me. If I towed a camper I'm sure the 3.31 rear end would piss me off though.

It also has 18" wheels instead of 20's which I'm sure yours does.

I don't have the sunroof on mine since that is crew cab only. The HDPP definitely explains the difference though!

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Drew @tacobell007 you should check out AAA (if you have it) for a car loan. They don't actually loan the money but they shop for the best rate for you. Find the truck 1st, take the info of the truck into AAA and see what they can do.

    This ^^^!

I'm pretty sure you knew I'd say that Mike. Lol

Huh that is pretty awesome. I may just see what they offer for loan options and then take my refinance elsewhere like Seth said. I still have to ask them to run my credit for a loan, but i cant do that til lunch time

That doesnt sound like a bad option, i always forget about refinancing auto loans

AAA was on my list to apply to, they have 3.79% for 72mon listed on their site right now, which really isnt that bad. I was talking with Rebecca earlier about all this car stuff and she said she recently saw a 1.9% loan at a lexus dealer, so I'm hoping for a good APR

I just did a CPO Lexus GX in February out of Lexus in Watertown. I did the research before going, had a local credit union set away at 2.5%, went to the dealer, said I can get that percent local and they beat it at 2.25% so I just went with the dealership offer.

Hey, mountain bike guys... can someone tell me what is the appeal of hauling bikes with the front wheel draped over the tailgate and the big padded moving blanket, sometimes with a FOX logo on it? I see it all the time going up 93 north every Friday afternoon... what makes that preferable over just putting them in the bed?

29 doesn't fit in a short bed. 27.5 (what I have) BARELY fits in a short bed. Using my method which is an axle mount. If you want to leave the wheels on, no chance for either fitting length wise in a short bed. Tailgate pads are about 100$, hold the bikes steady, don't need to take the wheel off.

Scratch the paint, not self contained under a soft topper - that's why I don't use them.

@tacobell007 - Dealers make money on having you finance through them. The banks pay them quite a bit for securing a car loan. I used that to negotiate $500 off of the price of a used car for my daughter a couple of years ago. A couple of things: you have to convince them you're a serious buyer; you have to be very clear that you'll walk if the deal isn't to your satisfaction.

This may just be my experience but dealers don’t want to negotiate on a used vehicle much and I’m sure that worse in the current market. If you’re looking new than that’s likely a little different. I really didn’t enjoy the car buying process and am fortunate to make good money at work so I sat for a half hour, argued over a tow hitch that costs 100 bucks online and I could install my self, and said fuck this just give me the paperwork and I’m gone. Not worth the time at all. Now if we are talking bigger numbers than that’s different but I’m glad to be done and hopefully for a while.

there isnt negotiations anywhere but the dodge dealer. they’ll laugh as you walk because there’s literally 5 emails of guys asking for the same thing and willing to pay.

there’s a dealer who had 88 new tundras that were technically used. marked them all 3-5k up over msrp and wouldn’t budge a penny. This was before i bought mine, they are still at like 60 today. it’s worth it for the dealer to wait and make the extra money.

My mom is brutal when buying a car. Before going I searched for hundreds of miles around and only found one comparable CX5 listed $500 lower and it was three hours away. They pointed out the lower cost one had a minor accident on record and theirs didn't (they were correct, I had missed that). Even still, they met her halfway on the price difference.

This small dealer has a reputation for being fair and honest - he told a coworker that he gets the same pricing that a bigger dealer does, so to feel free to take his quote anywhere and he was confident he'd win, and he did. I felt they were being very reasonable with her as well, so I was getting a little embarrassed over her arguing about $50 on a $20k purchase in the end.

You must of seen me lately lol. Using the tailgate pad keeps the bike standing up and stationary (surprisingly secure too) - laying it down in the bed allows it to slide all over and get beat up (especially when you have a bed liner). I have hauled mine in the bed, but a quick stop or corner and you can hear it sliding around; when the bike is worth a couple grand, it makes more sense to find alternative methods to transport.

Seemed like that was the case and they had what I wanted in a vehicle that was priced well so it’s fine with me.

Side note but I had a colleague who had a daughter get married at your venue recently! I was seeing photos from the event and I was like “hold up I recognize that place” haha.
