Played around on some sand in NMW.

Scouted some routes and campsites for the future. Ended up going up to Ashland and the 6 mile gate to enter. Definitely didn't take the normal route - we were bushwhacking for a few miles. Going to start a setup on Gaia up there - color coding the level of roads. Green good yellow meh red bushwhacking (TBD impassible, might downgrade the colors to blue is the best) and then something for unknown yet. Fun time though. We only hit the trains - the Xterra lost a strut on the trail took a few hours to get that moving again so we missed the B52 and ironworks that day and headed toward Mt Washubgton instead. Have plans for another trip in the spring sometime already.

PS @JDUB-Fabrication my friend needed to venmo me and I didn't know my username and wasn't signed in. She asked "did you pay for ... Skid marks?" And I was able to identify my account by the history for her that way. that gave me a chuckle.

I wonder if they'll even offer a V8 option or if they're going 'all-in' on the twin turbo V6.

Was considering the new Tundy but the Rivian R1T is looking much more appealing…

That ought to go over well... There are still a LOT of people who won't buy the small engine turbo options from the other manufacturers. I think not offering a V8 in the full size line up is a mistake.
Well yeah, but that's a lifestyle choice as well though. I like the Rivian, I'm not down for owning one yet though, it's not a viable replacement for me with how I use the truck.

Full electric :puke: I can't justify it for myself yet at least.

I hate the looks but I bet that the Tundra is going to be a damn good truck. If it is, it would rival for my next vehicle if I go full size. I'm sure there will be some people who make things look better. But it really does look like a sierra, I wonder how much of that is choice though with pedestrian stuff, and wonder if market research is steering them toward a similar appearance.

A lot of vehicles in general looking the same is a combination of pedestrian safety requirements, and computer modelling to get optimum aero for efficiency. All the OEMs are using similar simulations, and they all get similar results. And the result is all new cars basically look like some variation of the same egg shape.

What's this egg shape you speak of? Mine more closely resembles a brick!

I hate the egg shape and much prefer the older more square looking trucks and suvs

They do look sweet. Much better than that Tundra, that's for damn sure.

I'm disappointed that they went to the little rear doors with visible door handles. I always thought that looks weird. The past generation where the handles were hidden was a good compromise between the Ford/Nissan suicide doors and the Ram/GM little doors.

I agree with that completely. I was always a sucker for the suicide doors though, I thought that was the best approach.

They leak more and I THINK are heavier and take more structural shenanigans to work vs normal swing doors. I don't have an opinion on them, really. I like the suicide door style but it's not a dealbreaker or anything for me.

Will probably be a while before I need a new vehicle though. Well. Maybe. If I get mine to 300k I'm selling it then, regardless of condition. I'm at 37k now so another 8 or so years might get me there. o_O

    You're at 80k miles with a 2013?!?!?! I'm already past 40k miles. If I still had my 2013 F-150, I think I'd be rounding 200k miles at this point.
