Thank you! I’ll check out the Yamaha line. The PRS was $499 w/o a pick up. A bit too much for me. $250 is in the range. Let’s say realistically $300 or under for a beginner’s model.

I believe the hipsters call that avant garde jazz.

    Hah! Well played.

I’ve given jazz it’s fair share and just can’t get into it.

Pretty similar flow for me but with heavy rap and hip hop and then a ton of country.... like used to wear a cowboy hat all the time. Literally listen to everything. Right now it's been a lot of hosier, jelly roll, colt ford, etc

I do really enjoy some older jazz records like take five, giant steps, etc but it's definitely an acquired taste

been jammin Jelly Rolls new one for like a week straight while cleaning out the barn and garage.

I’ve been all over the map with music since middle school. 36 chambers, early Tupac, biggie, Dre, snoop. Then got into grunge with nirvana, smashing pumpkins Pearl Jam, etc. hard rock hit in high school with sevendust, non point, Metallica then got harder with killswitch and hatebreed. Country hit in college and now I listen to it all. I was picking up my kids the other day and had an epiphany that my matchbox 20, creed and goo goo dolls is the equivalent of my parents oldies 103 when I was a kid….

I power chord with the best of them. I'm not really an acoustic guy, simply because it highlights how awful I am at it. Seriously, despite getting my first guitar 25 years ago, I'm terrible, like not sandbagging, I'm just bad. In college I could at least occasionally do stuff that wasn't power chording, but now unless it's Blink's Dammit, I can umm...power chord all the things. My cousin passed suddenly this summer and he was a very good guitarist. There's a non-zero chance I end up with his amplifier setup, which would be silly, but it would mean a lot.

I listened to rap when I was a kid...like early 90s stuff, but after that it's very spotty in rap. I still know every word to the Humpty Dance (is your chance to do the hump!) and Ditty by Paperboy is a top 10 song for me. I never was into country, my wife is so I've been to a bunch of country concerts, but I'm not a country guy. I'd argue it's better than the junky pop music being churned out these days, but that's a low bar to clear.

I've always had a soft spot for vocal trance, oddly enough. Back when I had my Honda with neons and subwoofers I'd listen to all that stuff. I still stream di.fm occasionally in the Vette or Utopia if Im in a car with XM that goes up that high since Toyota doesn't equip the Tacoma with both antennas.

    Damn, never knew you played.

I'm the same timeframe with rap, though I start in the 80s. Digital Underground is one I knew before they were popular..it saddens me that most don't know the other stuff they did b/c it never got heavy rotation, but it's so damn good.

Generally, I think y'all need some Slayer and Danzig in your lives..

A Yamaha Stage Custom is just about the best drumset for the money! I have one and you can play any kind of music on them.

    Where is everyone today?

Anyway, the band i always hear to compare to Rush is a band most of you may not have heard of before called Porcupine Tree. They are awesome but not so much like Rush to me. I've also read that if Porcupine Tree had come out in the 70's instead of the 2000's then they would have been as big as Pink Floyd or Yes.
