Wait.....what?.......4065lbs? Holy crap..... better get myself weighted then. I average like 13/14 mpg (might be off a little more due to my 33" tires with 3.73 gearing though) but I know that I am heavy.

That's at least what I saw when I googled it quickly however it also didn't specify a difference for base 4x4 with the 4.0 short bed vs long bed....

I average 8-9mpg right now around town and about 11ish on the highway doing under 75mph. If I try for more it struggles....

Wholly hell, that's a lot of extra crap you're hauling around! The 4k lb unloaded weight probably isn't far off. My gasser 250's weighed in around 6,500 lbs empty, the diesel is around 7,500 lbs empty.

Ok not far from you. Got my yard fully fenced in now and I worried about pine tree branches smashing them . All good . Trying to get prices on tree removal requiring 150-ish feet from a crane. Neither of these trees threaten my house so I might do my roof instead. But I need a place for a shed 12x14 or 16 and I worry about dead limbs. I do have one reasonable spot but I have to have it six feet from neighbors property. Still could work though and get roof done with trees

I'd get that reweighed to confirm - if it's correct it would mean you're 1100 lbs over the GVWR. That would make me nervous from a liability standpoint if it's daily driven that way. Too many chances for it to bite you.

My F-150 is 5306 empty if I subtract the door sticker payload from GVWR. I'm probably at 5400ish with the stuff I keep in it, bed mat, etc. Payload is 1744. When I subtract myself and the extra stuff I figure I can be at 1500 lbs in the bed at any time assuming no other passengers.

I figured the scales were off but seeing as they're designed to measure the weight of tractor trailers you would think they might be somewhat accurate to the 100th pound...?
If the scale is correct then that would mean every "overland" style vehicle is over the GVWR as I don't have any additional mods than most of the others out there.

    CAT scale?

Yeah - adding on a bunch of steel armor and tents and stuff adds up quick. A rooftop tent is about 120 lbs plus the rack/bars to get it there, farm jacks, etc that stuff adds up quick!

I'm sure they are. I'd just have scenarios playing out in my head about an accident with significant injuries and the other side making a point out of being very overloaded.

It's probably unlikely, but I just worry about stuff more than a normal person would.

No clue what type of scale it was - just what they had at the rest stop scale station.

I am aware that it adds up quick that's why I wasn't shocked when I saw the numbers, the bumper/swing-outs themselves are about 3-400lbs alone.

Most overland rigs built on a mid size or even a half ton platform are very likely over the GVWR. Same for many vehicles hooked up to camping trailers. If you really pay attention to the GVWR of a vehicle, it can be eye opening to realize how many people are ‘legally’ overweight.

Oh damn - yeah bumpers and swing outs will get you there.

CAT are a certified and calibrated scale private company, they are at a lot of truck stops, and if you get a read out from them, and then go into a weigh station and don't line up then they'll help with any legalities. But I don't know how accurate they are for something as light as our trucks vs. an 18 wheeler

Maybe try a transfer station? There's one by me where you pay by weight, weigh in/ weight out. Might be a little better? Though they also weigh in/ out tri-axles so maybe not.

They absolutely are over GVWR. I know I was over with 2 adults, 2 kids, car seats, dogs, cap, rack, sliders, wheels, tires, and then hey let's add the trailer lmao. Payload capacity passed so quick. Think about Lexus GX builds. I think their payload is like 1200lbs.
Had 2 hard ciders starting this morning lol beer is gross lol
