I'd love to drive across the northern states then up the Alcan.

I get 5 weeks of just vacation (sick and personal time are separate additional pools), but it's tough to take more than a week at a time. I could maybe do two if I timed it perfectly. Fairbanks or Anchorage and back would be two full weeks of 10-hour driving days, though, so probably not realistic in that timeframe.

Still, the girlfriend and I just turned 30 and 31 and it'd be easier to do while we're young. I don't know if I'd have that amount of driving in me when I'm older.

The strong quartering headwinds and the constant uphill grade since the OK panhandle are breaking my dick on gas mileage.

IDK about you guys but I find cars in general to be fun and also thought this pic was put together well:

    IMG_20220330_184204.jpg

The wheels and tires caught my eye from a ways away. I was like "yooooo somebody loves that pile". Caught the guy on a smoke break but I creeped his car a little first.

Dude pulled it out of the scrapyard a few years ago where it sat for 20. Took him 3-4 years to get it dailiable. Mechanicals rebuilt as stock. Sounds great.

My daughter puked up EVERYTHING we gave her yesterday. I'd take a blown expansion tank over a sick child any day. Man I feel helpless when the kids are sick!

My cousin had an Element that he sold before he moved, I didn’t know he was going to sell it off - I only found out after the fact. Wish I had known, I would have gotten it! Kinda glad I didn’t now, since it would have just been a second gasser and I apparently need a buzz buzz but whatever.

I saw a ton of minivans doing cross country trips similar to mine, and they are great in that there’s room for TWO people, and a lot more comfortable inside similar to my sleeping setup for one, BUT the MPG is not considerably better than a tacoma. They’re like 19/25 city/highway. But I think there are some hybrids already.

They can be great. As much as I rag on them  I’ve also seen a few “built out” for “off road” readiness, IE climbing up a double track to get to a good camping spot, I wouldn’t wheel them :D

Meh - I love to see them, but I am NOT going to be one to do one. I don’t have any sentimental attachments to cars. For me, they are A to B machines. Junk yard for 20 years? Yeah that’s gonna stay in that junk yard from me at least.

I want to do some bananaland projects - I want a beach buggy to tool around in. Would love to just have a deuce to tool around in or even take wheeling. But then I get home after work and it’s like “Would I rather go take the dog and the kayak 10 minutes away and enjoy the weather OR spend a ton on taxes and insurance on a second vehicle, and spend 5 hours working on a rust bucket every day just to get it to be mobile”.

But to each their own. I get the appeal.

Sorry y’all with sick kids. I have to take my dog to the vet next week. Just an annual physical, but she needs anxiety meds. Last time she broke out her harness and tried to bust out the window, almost took down the blinds trying to get back out to me. I have to call and see if I can go in with her or not. If I am allowed in, she’d be fine. She’s NOT happy being sent in alone though.

So F.W. Webb FTW! called this morning and texted over a few pics of everything I wanted to replace. Lots of old ass rusty pipes. Wife even offered to get it in hopes of a shower before work... Hour or so of torching, banging and a bit of swearing and she got her shower in and on time. Bunch of pictures and random crap ruined but definitely could have been worse.

I must be seeing things or are those 2nd generation Honda Pilot / Ridgeline steel wheels? I think everyone of a certain age either had or knew someone that had a G-body of some type.

My cousin who passed this summer (RIP) had a 1984 that he shoehorned a 454 into. It ran 11.8 @ 125 without the 400 shot connected. I don't think he ever got it street legal before his divorce, but what a beast it was. I never got a chance to see it run, sadly due to family drama, but I heard the stories.

Ugh. I know that cycle. We had COVID hit us twice since January but luckily we're all semi-good right now, knock on wood.

Blasting thru the high desert today. Finished NM and got into the Painted Desert in AZ. Last hotel tonight before a week in the open desert.

Picked up a hitchhiker about 150 miles outside of Gallup. Older D'neh cat trying to get back to the rez. He mumbled about skinwalkers at his friend's place where he was hitching from and pointed out a bunch of cool stuff along the road.

Love a G body.. had a couple... one small block... and one... quicker...
Still would love a GNX (or a Sy/Ty)

Toyed with snagging a decent SS, and dropping a 6.0 in it... thatd be fun...

Webb is good for plumbing, and piping... but, The joke was always, "Welcome to Webb, we ain't go it, but, can order it"

wow, you just drove through my old stomping ground. Working in the zuni mountains that run along the south side of i-40 between gallup and grants for three years. Lived in grants for a year. Miss that place, so much cool stuff around and GREAT network of dirt roads
