I have a Kubota B7610 tractor at our new property. We ended up with 14 acres, mostly wooded as well. It’s currently the father in laws with the plan that I will buy it but man it’s so handy to have. Even as easy as using it to move rock, firewood, load with demolition material to go in the dumpster, etc.

Pretty comparable tractor to what I've got coming.

It sounds like the old rule of thumb for a tuxedo, if you're going to rent it 3 times just buy it. Plus it isn't just like you're doing a project, the road you mentioned will always need upkeep.

Yeah! I rent stuff I know I won’t have a long term need for. Tile wet saw? Yeah that was a 5 hour rental for sure.

Tux/suits etc, I would rent a tux even if I will wear it >3 times, because the NEXT time I need a tux is going to be….well, probably never, but let’s say I do….who knows if I’ll be the same size, have both my arms still, etc by that point. Wearing a suit daily for work yeah. But meh.

I’m just jealous he has a use case to justify something fun :pout:

Here I am trying to justify a chamber vac sealer and he’s like “Yeah it’s got a front AND back loader!”

I did buy a tile saw a few years ago, Harbor Freight type level but I was tiling my bathroom/hallway/kitchen.

A while ago I needed a tuxedo every few weeks so yeah that was well worth buying.

Daylight is a problem in the fall and winter afternoons. I had a headlight and flashing rear red light.

You mean the rest of the Jeep?
JK, The A pillars are really easy to bolt things up to since its straight, and already has bolts sticking out the bottom. So, just get a light bar mount on top of the windshield that bolts to the bottom, because you can, and because FREEDOM.

Same! I'm 10 minutes away. And I will happy to rent it and you for some work. I've been on the fence buying a machine for so long. Just can't justify it, because when I'm done....

    I had that "Jeep thing"....
Then it burned when I peed...
Now I have a Tacoma, and it's all better....

Do you watch Top Gear? They did an episode where they flew to Miami, bought cars, and drove to New Orleans. The premise was - the cost to buy and use the car is less than a rental. They had like a grand, it’s a pretty good episode.

Point is, fine one, use it, sell it. Depending how long you need it for, might be cheaper than renting!

    :spy:

When the Taco gets smoked I might get a woods jeep. Short wheel base, easy SAS, stuff is DIRT cheap. Sliders can be had for like 150$ all told. etc etc. TBD I’m at 50k, so I have another 150k before I need to consider that!

    Happy 4th weekend y’all.

This right here is a fine idea, if you have the cash to tie up in a machine for a little while. Tractors hold their value really well and there isn't going to be a huge difference in price to buy a used machine with 120 hours and then sell it a few weeks, or even a year later with 150 hours.

I feel like Dick Cepek DC2s were played out in 2008, yet I keep seeing them running around. What do I know, though.
