@mach1man001 do not put a kick stand on that bike! I promise, you’ll have the only full carbon, full suspension bike with a kick stand on the trails

Yes, they are called t-nuts. You want to make sure that you get the right "series" of tnut though. Usually roof racks, if it came from the manufacturer, are made with 10 series extruded aluminum so you want to make sure that you get 10 series t nuts. I get all of my stuff from www.tnutz.com . They are awesome and usually the cheapest.

You can get these which are drop in stainless steel and you can get them in 3 different bikt thread in patterns. I usually use M6
    https://www.tnutz.com/product/db-010-ss/

Or you can get these so the bolt is coming right out instead of bolt in, and it comes with the nut and washer as well also in stainless

I have to agree with that. My bike is a fairly ancient F4 set up for me, not for well, anyone else.

Since it's in the green room shouldn't they show the post and reason why? It would be both entertaining and educational.

Putting a new muffler/tailpipe assy on a friend's 2nd gen 4.0L - does anyone have a P/N for the slip gasket and maybe even the clamp?

Edit - the ones that go here:IMG_20220821_140328.jpg

    Thanks.

That is not a factory part. That is a cheap aftermarket clamp that you can buy at any part store.

    Okay. Finally. I did it.

No more rattles, clicks, ticks, wind noise, or vibes in the cab.

    I am deliriously happy.

Also, I think I'm gonna make a trip to the grocery store today and go ahead and kill the truck for alt, water pump, trans cooler and lines, and rad. Nowhere to be for three days, so the time is right.

Anyone want a factory trans cooler? Every single piece of hardware, bracket, and hose came off in good shape. I have NIB tcase elbow fittings and hardlines.

    Free for the picking up.

Quitting time. New water pump (as well as upper ass'y/throttle body water lines and all new clamps for water lines), new alt, and new trans cooler lines are in, pulleys back on. Tomorrow is CSF rad and figure out a mounting bracket for the trans cooler with some aluminum and stainless self tappers.

    IMG_20220822_140714.jpg

The new trans cooler lines are held in the factory hardline bracket points with some modified 2-line clamps. Just had to drill them out to take the right size bolt:
    IMG_20220822_133515.jpg

My timing chain inspection cover is pretty thrashed. I thought I had one here, but no, just the gasket????? I hit it with a wire wheel and some rust converter... Something to fuck with another time I guess.

One of the 12mm bolts on the water pump really wanted to round off, so I sent the neighbor kid down to the getting spot to pick me up a full metric set of 6 point wrenches. Less than a hundo and it really is about time I graduated from the Hazard Fraud 12 point set I've been using for years.

Here's the old pump and alt:
    IMG_20220822_184859.jpg IMG_20220822_184939.jpg

The pump went from a little weeping to a noticeable slow leak, thus the replacement. On inspection once it was out it seems the bearing is also starting to go. Whatever. 250k miles. The alt was getting a little chewy too.

I'll probably put the alt on the rebuild bench with the PS pump and steering rack. Winter projects.

I bought 3 of these bed bars and I am now only using 2. I'd sell you one and maybe you could see if the company would just sell you one.

All done. No leaks, first try. This is beyond the power of science.

Made some brackets for the new cooler (Hayden 696). Aluminum is tough to bend much without cracking - thin stock only, targeted heat, and go sloooooow.

    IMG_20220823_145756.jpg

Did a donut of edge trim where the lines pass through:
    IMG_20220823_152456.jpg

    And here it is installed:
    IMG_20220823_163533.jpg

I lost way less than a quart of trans fluid thru the entire surgery. I'll top it up and check the level tomorrow. I lost almost 2 gallons of coolant all up.

Finally, some decent thunderstorms in RI. One of the lightning strikes was so close, I could hear sparking before the flash.
