We haven't had power since 6 AM. Last I measured, we had 23" but we have gotten 3 more hours of snow since.

Power just came back but it's still snowing. Got the pellet stove and the boiler cranking. The house dropped to 59, which really isn't bad for an entire day with no heat in the winter.

A van seems way more practical. Not having to go outside to go from the cab to camper seems less annoying too. Also how is that big camper not completely overloading a Tacoma’s payload capacity and tipping the truck over going around a corner?

We ended up with a small dusting, very disappointing…. Even last night, the forecast for my area was calling for a foot.

I'd take a picture of the snow....

Woke up to grass and blue skies down here in lil' Rhody. Sorry @jpereira2 you didn't get to plow :(

I wasn't even thinking of that part, even though I went to the extremes of ripping out my passenger seat so my setup allowed me to crawl over if it was raining/snowing out, and not have to get out  I've seen plenty of slide ins in tacomas, but it's just one of those "is it worth it" moments.

Here's a class B in Beverly MA for a shade under 30k, no idea on engine condition though. It's from '98 so you have to be aware of frame rot/rust, engine maintenance and condition, overall age of things (rubber and plastics tubes and fittings, seals, etc)

    https://providence.craigslist.org/rvd/d/beverly-1998-coachmen-19-class-camper/7595591239.html

But, a new Kimbo is about the same cost, and I would GUESS (since I don't really know anything, to be fair, about campers/class B/slide ins) that the resale at the end is similar.

Those Merc sprinter Class B's are baaaaaananas though, I don't know if it's a result of the pandemic but they're 100k+.

And, ultimately, if it's just 1 and you don't need a toilet/shower, my setup of the platform works mint if you're 6' tall or less (I am 5'10 and can stretch)

I ended up somewhere between 24 and 30 inches. It was 23 inches as of my last clearing yesterday. Then we got more but I didn't measure it. Seems like it blew around too so it was tough to get a great idea based on my uncleared areas.

Was looking at the Moonlander and then I looked at her looking at it and switched YouTubes fast

in a pinch yeah could work. Also checking out Bear composites. Those are on the table also. In the end; may dumb down the truck to get a higher pay load and use money for airbags…

I just know I’m heading West like I always wanted to.:crapstorm:

I say this as both a joke and a serious comment - where's the shitter.

Here's the rules for camping on the beach at cape cod:

A SCV is defined as a vehicle with a self-contained water or chemical toilet, and, permanently installed gray and black water holding tanks with a minimum 3 day holding capacity. Cassette-style toilets, such as those found in some Mercedes Benz Sprinter models, are not permitted.

A lot of other places have similar rules in order to be allowed to camp there. Just something to consider when it comes down to ambition for going cross country and see the sights. This one says no sprinters, BUT a lot of places allow them. But a lot of places don't allow something with nothing at all.

Have you seen the Storyteller Vans? They are stupidly expensive but awesome.

Yeah, the northeast is pretty strict with camping setups - we don't have a lot of space. Go out west and BLM lands are the wild west, I go out there with my setup and there's no problem. The Cape is a big one around here with those restrictions, but I think I've seen a few other campgrounds with some high level rules about it as well. I think Joshua Tree was the same though. (Don't camp in JTNP, there are BLM lands both north and south of it, I recommend the north side)

I'm down in Rhode Island, we got a dusting last night that was gone by this morning.
