Well it sounds like there are a good number of shooters in this group.

When I get the 1000m line gouged out maybe I should host a camp and shoot BYOB(eer/ullets).

That is the one I've been eyeballing. Missed my shot by 5 minutes a bit ago...

    Oh they do.....

I will absolutely be down. I really want to see how far I can reach with my Rem700 .308(26in varmint full contour barrel, w/optic to match). I know what the rifle is good for... just not me. Long range ballistics is something I've taken an interest in(love math).

    No sure.
I asked around when I first moved up here, and the crew I work with mentioned Braintree, and of course Sig.
I can ask around during the week.
Too far for me to drive. I have one 20 mins from me, but, the fees are up there, and I have a hard enough time doing the 4 hours a year at my current.

I don't believe Braintree has a range that long. I've only shot pistol there as a guest and I don't hink I've ever been on the rifle ranges. They don't have much information about the ranges on their website, but I have a friend who was a member for years and can ask.

I do know that they have a LOT of rules and the outdoor ranges can't be used unless their is a RSO here to watch everyone shoot. Nice facilities, but I don't necessarily need someone to supervise me after close to 50 years of shooting.

That was a perk of being a member at a range in charlotte.. once the guys knew me, they would open a bay for me and just let me do my own thing while keeping tabs on everyone else in the other two bays lol

One thing that surprises me about the south is that there a far fewer "clubs" and most ranges are commercial operations. Or maybe it's just that you need to know people before you get invited to a private range.

Since we're working on a move to Texas I've been looking for clubs, but haven't seen many so far.

Yeah I hate shooting there. 2 guns on the bench at a time, no mag dumps, no fun haha

My club is pretty cool. They have some pits where you can do drills, pistol rifle and shotgun

There's a nice club here. They have some pretty reasonable rules even if they are a little on the fuddy side, which I don't intend as a slight - the rules are clearly in place to keep people from trashing the place and being a menace, since there's no RSO and it's beep in/out at the gate.

Even with the rules in place I've had a couple run-ins with folks that had no business touching a gun, but for the most part it's a real nice, well kept, clean place with 50/100/200 yard lines separated by berms.

I definitely get the climate here and I'm not the average member by any means. For the most part I'm happy to just go plink some, and I could usually hit it on a weekday AM when there was nobody around anyway, so most of the restrictions on what/when/how didn't bother me too much, and on the rare occasion someone else was there early AM they didn't care if I was running drills on close targets on the 50 yard line.

It took me about 2 years to figure out what the Cowboy Action range on the back side of the hill is actually for and why the ground was so chewed up.

This. I can name a club or 2 in Corpus. Same M.O. feel it out, get to know people, blah blah. Different than Sportsmans Clubs up here where as long as you maintain dues and volunteer time....

My current spot is pretty good. I can go shoot with minimal restrictions(for this area). In fact, I wouldn't mind putting a "qual" in place for access to the rifle range.:crapstorm:

Going verrry slowly with this. Consolidating a bunch of mod wiring into a unified harness with a fused relay box. Should squeeze in nicely by the winch solenoid on the passenger side of the engine compartment fender well area.

Sizing up all the wiring because it gives me the tinglies to do so and it looks like everything will just BARELY fit the seals/terminals.
