The map used for the energy codes would be more accurate for looking at climate variations from state to state.

I've said many times if things continue (and I know markets change, but the general trend) you'll see less actual "sales" of houses and more of them being passed along in the family. My in-laws' house is still in our family, as is mine. For me moving would make zero sense unless I leave this area as it's not like I need a bigger house and being older that's not changing.

I remember as a teenager where you got the proverbial shitbox car for $500, $1000 could get you a decent enough car for most at that age. That said they can always make more cars; houses, not as easily done

Truth, mine was 200K in 2004 and it's about 400k now. Good luck finding anything under 350 anymore unless it's a shithole in a rough area. Having children as well with the child care thing I couldn't see how..plus you're at the point where they have roots and I would imagine for most/all it's heartbreaking to think about pulling those out.

And you were foolish enough to get sucked back in here. Tsk tsk..

Appointment Tuesday to go look at an ex-detective Impala. Dude down in NH owns a heavy equipment shop and flips cars with the downtime. 160k and salvaged for bodywork. Real clean other than the paintjob on the replacement bumper, says he'll run it up a lift for me too.

Price is right and I really want a spare vehicle before I go to the next phase of chopping and modding with the truck.

What year Impala? I work on alot of 06-12 Impala's at work, and all of the 2006-2010 ones are rotted extremely badly on the rocker panels, to the point where they almost can't be lifted up anymore. It is hard to see looking at the car while on the ground, since there are plastic rocker covers. Just giving you a heads up!

It’s a tough time for a first home buyer. My son and his family had a wonderful break, two years ago. They wanted to get out of their rental apartment in Washington DC. They bid on multiple homes, in Maryland, without success.
The last house they bid on had 42 offers, all above asking price and they were nowhere close. The man that was selling the house was very ill and was home when my son, his wife and infant child looked at the house. The deal fell through with the contracted buyer. The owner stopped the realtor from relisting the house and asked if the young family with the baby had found a home yet. The realtor reached out to my son. The man sold the house to my son for much less than other bids he received.
It turns out he was a widower with no children. He did a wonderful thing for strangers.

2012. I've heard the rockers and front fenders rust inside out, def gonna look hard up on the lift and see if he'll let me pop the wheel well liners off. Are they on with Christmas trees or what?

Also... Do you have a line on shocks? I'm gonna assume at 160 it needs them and I can't find decent brand or OEM FE3 spec shocks to save my life. The real dream is the Bilstein units off a GXP, but those are unobtanium too.

You might be okay rust wise, the only 2012 I worked on was actually pretty clean (for the Northeast anyway). The front sub-frame is aluminum, so at least that won't rust away!

I do not have a line on shocks unfortunately, as all of the people that own the Impala's I work on are broke, and can barely afford the oil changes.

I just looked up those struts for that Grand Prix GXP, it looks like they have been discontinued, but Summit shows they will get them back in stock in late October. Or since they are made by Bilstein, do they still make them aftermarket?

Bilstein says they aren't making them to sell aftermarket anymore, and have discontinued the B series for the platform. The GXP (and a couple other W body) are/were made by B but valved to GM's specs for the specific vehicle. I wonder where Summit's getting them from? Maybe a private run while the tooling is still around?

Sweet, where abouts? Looks like Fish Creek Ponds maybe? Heading to Croghan in the AM for some whitewater on the Beaver River, then Paul Smiths for some camping and flatwater canoe training, Sunday after will be Mt. Biking in Wilmington Whiteface. I’m in a little bit of a Labor Day panic. Also have my annual canoe race (17 of the last 23 yrs) starting Friday in Old Forge and haven’t spent much time in the boat this summer…doh! It’s gonna hurt a little.

For those of you that camp out of your rigs, what are your setups? I've somewhat figured out my truck bed storage but my original plans would not work with what I had so don't think I'll be sleeping back there

Meh - to each their own. I guess from my standpoint, the insignificant weather changes aren't worth going THAT far. If I'm going that far, I'd just keep going down into GA, or TX.

How many are you looking to have in there? And are you attached to having a passenger seat? :D

I have a feeling Summit will never get them, and just keep delaying to shipping time.

jones pond, it’s been solid. Especially for free. Got to listen to loon all night thurs. They haven’t come back since people have been coming in, bummer for me.

Jason every time I pack up I’m always surprised at how full it is. Cooler, water jug, camera equipment, camping gear and clothes leaves me one optional item, which this trip was my inflatable sup

I ground tent. I normally set up in a spot and stay there for a bit and explore what’s around

I have a RTT but my rack space is consumed by a variety of other toys. Usually ground tent but Paul Smiths Alumni campground Leanto this weekend. Side note…ran into a buddy who flew his helicopter in to the whitewater put-in today! Crazy!IMG_3572.jpg
