Can anyone recommend a non dealer shop that is good with Tacomas? Just need to get the rear differential gear oil changed when I can do it. Our house went on the market yesterday and at some point I'm going to have to drive the Tacoma to TX. My wife's RAV4 is likely to be shipped, but I have "stuff" that the movers won't take so I'll be trucking it down.

You're moving away from us??? :(

Honestly you can do it with us at a mod day when we do fluids. I forgot who it was that was able to take fluids, but IIRC there were a few individuals that could.

If you aren't sure of when, we probably can schedule something soon with everyone.

Anyone see the new Frontier Hardbody Special Edition?

I'm not a big Frontier guy, but those wheels are AWESOME! I was always a fan of the original SE-V6 Hardbody and Pathfinders with those wheels, so it's so cool they remade them. I'm not sure Toyota could do the same thing with an Xtracab throwback as those wheels are kinda meh, but I love, love, LOVE those Frontier wheels. Had I been in charge I would have changed the debossed Frontier to Hardbody and done the two tone rocker striping, but alas I'm not.

Looks pretty cool all in all I think. I'd consider the Frontier if I was in the market definitely, I had one for 2 months while Toyota was reframing my truck.

Autozone and some mechanic shops will take it as well. Some shops use clean burn/waste oil burners for heat

I give all of mine to a friend with a shop. He doesn't do much repair work anymore - mostly just runs it as a state inspection station. So I don't think he generates much waste oil on his own and seems to appreciate it a lot whenever I drop some off.

Coolant is the thing that I have no idea how to get rid of. I have some from my ATV that has been sitting for a while.

I actually hit up my buddy that teaches at Westfield Voc and see if they need any down there for their automotive technology shop.

Some transfer stations take coolant. I think some of the hazardous waste places take it as well

Transfer stations are usually owned by the towns around here and they don't let non-residents in. My town happens to be one of the few without one. I heard at one point that may change, though, as part of the waste management district we're a part of.

Florescent light bulbs are difficult too. I had a bunch of them, but fortunately I had a facilities manager friend who was doing an LED conversion and he took them to add to their pile for the recyclers to take.

Yea ours won't let you in without a dump pass. Back in the day we could at least bring recycling in for free as a resident

Look out for a hazardous waste collection day by your town or maybe call your local DPW and see if they'll take it.

My town no longer has Hazardous Waste Days. Depending where you are Clean Harbors has a drop off day at their Braintree facility on the second Tuesday of each month. They charge, but will take anti freeze and other materials.

Home Depot and Lowes will take CFLs, but you don't need to drop off tubes as they don't contain Mercury. That's why CFLs are considered HazMat. Straight tubes don't and aren't. HD and Lowes will also take rechargeable batteries including Sealed Lead Acid. They don't want regular Alkaline batteries, but I see people dumping them there all the time.

Looks like they did take it at the last one a few towns over in April. No news on another yet.

I'm on the other side of the state, so Braintree is about 3 hours from me.

I don't have CFLs, fortunately. Previous owners never put those in. Everything's LED now. I had a ton of 4 ft tubes from the basement and garage when I removed those fixtures, but was able to get rid of them years ago.

I noticed Home Depot had the rechargeable battery drop-off bin. I used it for one of my Makita batteries once. The thing lasted about 10 years before it was finally too weak to be useful. Definitely a good thing that they last with how expensive they are.

I've found aftermarket batteries and a charger for my Ryobi drill and power hammer. 12 volt so that should tell you how old they are, but they still work.

Shit, you're in the boon-docks, just dig a hole and pour away! The earth is a great filter

Just in case that's not taken sarcastically, don't go dumping anti-freeze in the woods please...
