You'll probably hear of a bunch of problem in the first 2 or 3 years. Tundras have something like 1500 bad castings that cause engine failure pre 20k miles. There's also been turbo issues and other issues that are growing pains. Just like Ford had when they introduced the ecoboost

 

The 2.3 in the Ford ranger was also used in the mustang and the f(vous? Or fiesta ST? Whatver). In Spain the used gaskets for the mustang on a focus engine build, which partially blocked some ports and etc etc. Bunch of engines were going kablooie for a while.

There's always going to be that risk. The 2.3 is, other than being turbod, an awesome engine. I'd absolutely own one.

Isn't the Toyota 2.4 being used out of a something else? Or is it solely used in the fourth gen? It probably has a lot of miles under its belt already. You'll see some weird stuff happen for sure. I'd risk it. I won't because i don't like the truck, but I'd risk it.

 

Lexus nx350 and the highlander, but I think the design debuted in '22 so it's still pretty fresh

 

Yea but even so the Tundra motor had been out prior to the Tundra getting it and it still is having problems. I'd like a hybrid Tundra down the line but we shall see, Steph needs a new vehicle before anything

 

I wish they offered the hybrid in the double cab. It's just my fiancee and I so the crewmax is pointless.

 

Or... they offer crewmax 6.5' bed. So if the seats fold up its just more dry storage

i talk up marriage and that doesn't work out for 100% of people either

 

But in retrospect he's pretty much getting a brand new engine so that works out. Just like the people who have their frames replaced.

 

Have a rip in one of my splash gaurds and did not feel like making my own.

Same though. I could make a lot of machinist tools, but I'd rather buy them for the headache saver

 

Kinda off-topic ...but my brother was a machinist/tool maker. When he retired I had my SIL sneak into his toolbox and grab a couple of his end mill bits. I had them mounted in a black velvet lined shadow box for his man cave.

 

That's pretty sweet! I have a lot of endmills, drills, taps, reamers, etc in one drawer of my box. I'm a CNC Machinist but can hold my own on manual machines as well. I currently make parts for most of the US fighter jets. Whether it's brake/hydraulic system related or for their gun

 

Those are great and I have the same ones…there’s better if you want to return them. Local to me member has some sets for sell that cover even better and the material seems way better too. Think his sets were 100. Jwarr.

Yeah, then we're talking an awfully long truck though! I don't think I could walk around it in the garage at that point.

 

Maybe, but realistically it's only about 12-14" longer than a standard crewmax

 

I’ve had materials to make a set for 2 years, moved to 3 different houses, and I still haven’t made them yet.

 

Playing around in the scrap bin while I wait between finish coats.

 

When I go up there I have to get a pizza at Bishops!
