Neither would I , but my wife is in that place and every other HomeGoods store often enough to remember the bedding section when my daughter needed one. I bet you could even buy one of the queen size ones and double it over. If you just need a twin size. They cut them using a hot wire at the factory. I knew a guy who worked at a place somewhere near Lowell that made mattress stuffing and what not. the foam arrives as a gigantic block, the size of a tractor trailer, and then they AutoCAD for a wire cutter to maximize the usable foam, and then a computer cuts the block wasting as little as possible… And then the waste is used to stuff, pillows, etc..

That’s interesting, doubling up a queen size is a smart idea. It would be nice if that place could cut foam to size for guys like us haha.

They also where the local manufacturer for my pillow back then. They made the little balls that go inside the pillow.

When I was trying to set up my short bed, I had good luck with lawn chair cushions. The gap between the wheel wells is 2 wide when they're side by side, then the section by the tailgate is one wide when they're sideways.

I'd say you'd want to do one of two things, depending what you want your setup to be.

First option - platform it up, now you have one square flat surface.

Second option is to do a half platform/cot.

And the third option is my dumb idea - take out the passenger seat and do it in the cab

I love going there for random snacks and stuff like that, gotten some pretty "unique" pastas and sauces and stuff just because.

    Honestly
Honestly the last option is my favorite. I love the idea of being watertight and having the ability to just hop in the drivers seat and go. Theres a kid I just followed on Instagram that’s doing that very thing and I thought it was genius. Unfortunately I think I may be a bit too tall for it 6’3”.

Oof. I'm 5 10 and it's a perfect fit. Where my platform is you might be able to get a couple inches out of it, especially if you took off the back panel and did it in a flat wall.

It is really nice to rock up and be done. Downside is you lose the passenger seat.

I had the 3 inch topper from Walmart some years ago, did the job fine. Used it on top of the mattress at home but my wife was doing some overnight shifts at work and I got her another one 1-2 inch to use as a bedroll (back problems)

I'll be happy if I get 15k for my stupid duty. Completely A-typical condition for almost anything up here that age. And at 15k, that MIGHT come close to what I've put into it( I know I'll never get it back).
But, at approx 5k in 5 years, it costs more to insure, excise, etc, than all my bikes and Tacoma... for something I dont use.
I try to drive it to a jobsite every so often, but.....

That’s a nice set up. Losing the passenger seat is kinda a no go for me unfortunately. I don’t think my girlfriend would enjoy sitting directly behind me any time we go somewhere haha.

We usually take her car for longer drives anyway, and puttering about. Hybrid. We only take mine for a few things anyway.

I have a rooftop tent to try out next year. I already know the pros and cons. This truck was bought and is used as an adventure vehicle.

When we trade hers in I'm going to try to keep it for myself for a road trip machine :spy: 45 mpg yes please. Probably send it up the Dempster and another trip or two then trade it in :)

What’s the second car? We are actually looking for another car for that very reason (better gas mileage)

Camry hybrid. I'm iffy on actually wanting it for more than average roads since the batteries. But we'll see it's got another 90k to go.

    I hate flippers.

I spotted a car this weekend I was going to check out hopefully today but I wasn't certain if my buddy could be around to check it out. It was sold less than 10 hours after posting. I just saw it pop back up online for $2,000 more by a guy who appears to specialize selling WRXs.

So annoying. I wonder if he noticed the repaired accident damage that wasn't listed in the original ad. I'm pretty sure the first seller was patching together a wreck, but it was (allegedly) an AZ car so that alone in the Northeast would have made it quite appealing.

Grrr. I bet money that second guy is going to jump title, maybe the first seller should look into that one..

I was just going to say the same thing - unless he's a dealer, no way he paid tax and got a new title that fast.

My truck is having the rear diff rebuilt now, they were almost done Friday and said I should have it back today. It had a faint vibration from 45-50 only when coasting. They spent a lot of time trying to pinpoint it and they think it's one of the bearings in the diff. So they're replacing all of them and also putting a new U-joint on it for good measure.

My last F-150 was solid but this one is one thing after another. I will say at least it isn't leave you stranded sort of stuff like friends experiences with Ram and GM trucks, but having both diffs rebuilt for NVH concerns in ~70,000 miles is a lot.

It's weird, too - Ford is generally known to build good differentials. Even the 8.8 that most F-150s get has a great reputation, and my truck has the 9.75. It was built right at the beginning of COVID, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Ford has had some serious quality control issues as of late, at least with the Stupid Duty. Transmission issues with the 10 speed, engines grenading early in life due to oil starvation and then all the 'not leave you stranded' stuff but still lots of little crap like water infiltration, lighting issues, trailering issues (connection), etc. I've had great luck with Ford so far, but I'm not sure they'd be at the top of my list if I were buying a new full size today (I might end up with one, but I'd at least be shopping GM and Ram). Fortunately, I'm not in the market, I'm very much enjoying my current truck.

Replacing mine wouldn't even be on the radar if I didn't drive so many miles. Thought about picking up something like a Crosstrek as a commuter to keep miles off the truck, but everything decent is so expensive right now.
