Even if he paid and applied, even a dealer ain't getting a new title that quick.

My friend fell into that trap. His Camry is finally done for and he's been shopping for a few weeks/getting the sticker shocking etc. Of course now his wife's Hyundai SUV needs about 5K of work plus is rusty as hell all over. YUCK. Sounding like he'll be forced to buy one lease one.

Right, but a dealer can reassign a title unlike an individual.

My commute is rural and mountainous, so part of the issue is trying to find something AWD with decent ground clearance. If I'm forced to take the truck every time there's winter weather, it makes a commuter less useful. Seems like only a few years ago, you could find something really solid for under $10k without looking hard.

Cars suck lol. And the market is shit too. Recently bought new tires for infiniti even though last set was only a year old. 1300 bucks there. It also just had 2k worth if work done but thankfully only cost me 250. Tacoma just had 1k done of stuff I could have mostly done but it just wasn't worth the time for me so alas. Fingers crossed everything is good for a long time now.

Yup...my boat with my truck...I don't have the time/space to repair it and the $$ I'd put into it I would rather put into a new truck...Luckily I have my kids car because freshman can't have cars on campus...So...I wait...and wait...

I think I’m going to post the Vette for sale this spring. It’s been a fun run, but it’s time to move on. I have to decide how to maximize what I can get out of it. I’ll probably take the BBS off and go back to the stock wheels and part out what I can elsewhere.

My eyes have wandered too much.

Okay, I’m not 100% sure I’ll be selling and it won’t be until the spring, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind. They’re rare for C5 specific fitment.

I don’t see them increasing the value of the car enough to have them worthwhile to sell with the car. I figure between that, the clear roof and a few other parts there’s easily 2-2.5K I could make on top.

So with those caveats definitely keep me in mind.

I’ve had the car for seven years, it’s time to change things up, I think.

Has anyone used Lou's for rust proofing? I had them put an exhaust on my old Infiniti, and they were great. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with their rust proofing service. They use HN Undercoating, which I heard was decent. Winter is coming.

NHOU is decent but if Jason is taking appointments most people here use Woolwax. Jason @jpereira2 sprays in eastern MA and i spray in Western MA

Thanks for the replies! I am in Tiverton. I called Lou's and it looks like they only do it in the Wareham location. They are getting around $350 for a Tacoma and ask that you do yearly touch ups. There is also a place in Warwick- Patriot Auto Undercoating, but they are more of a hike for me and use the same NH Undercoating stuff.

Tocobell007- Do you have a site I could check out? I would prefer Woolwax, but Lou's only offers NH Undercoating. I would strongly prefer a warranty with it. I got the truck new at the end of last winter. I should have had them do it at the dealership, but they were asking a dumb amount of money and I already paid out the ass for the truck.

What kind of warranty are you looking for? Woolwax is a yearly maintenance coating as well, which is better than traditional rubberized undercoating. You can look at the dealer locator at www.woolwaxusa.com

You don't want an undercoating with a warranty. Those are "hard shell" coatings which trap moisture behind them when they crack. Woolwax and Fluid Film are both lanolin based, NHOU uses an oil undercoating. Both work, both you need to do yearly. I splash around in the woods for fun, so I use the lanolin so I don't leave oil slicks everywhere. I get mine done by Jason @jpereira2

They're both a lanolin "wax" based, sprayed on and in the frame/under bits. They wear off (oil does too), so you'll want to have them done annually.

In my opinion - Get a woolwax or fluid film done this year and then next year get it done by Jason :)

Looks like you've got a couple options in Tiverton. Dent Fixx in East Prov took care of my rocker for me a while back, good dude, but I didn't go to him for undercoating.
