not sure about that. that torture test put like 200k miles on the eco boost of hammering the piss out of it... then they tore it down publicly and the mechanic was like id run it for another 100k miles.

Have them run a 1gr-FE. I bet if it made the same numbers as the ecoboost (give it turbos) it would way out live that

the 1GR with a supercharger isnt even close to the eco boosts numbers. idk.. i love my truck, but ill admit ford made a much more advanced engine. its like an 8k dollar upgrade from their 5.0l...

What's an 8k upgrade? The Ecoboost is only a $1000 upgrade over the 5.0.

GM did some kind of tests like that on the Colorado and look what heaps of shit those are, especially the 04-06 years. Don't even say a word about the 5 cylinder b/c the 4 cylinder also had the head issues..$3000 and that's if you didn't break anything else when it let go, they were also eating cams, chains, etc..

    Get that burning checked...

Every manufacturer puts their trucks through stress tests/torture tests/etc. I'm not blinded by a video where a manufacturer put a truck through a series of arbitrary tests and said it's incredible at the end. I'm more interested in hearing people's reviews of that truck once it's released to the public. Just because a handful of trucks survived a torture test doesn't mean that every truck they produce will withstand even a fraction of what those others did

FWIW, I don't hate the ecoboost, I just don't think it's worth all the hype that surrounded it when it came out. It's a great idea on paper, but practically, I wouldn't buy it. The big draw I saw with the twin turbo V6 is that it could use very little fuel for commuting but still made power when you needed it. It's a great concept except that it isn't really all that great on fuel and it's no better with towing or hauling than the V8 options are. I see it as that awkward middle child. It's ok at everything but not really great at anything.

I've found that the Tacoma does have the power but the drive by wire system makes it seem like a wimp. The Chevys (and other makes as well for that matter) seem to have a more lively throttle system so you can actually feel and use the power the vehicle has.

i guess an opinion is like an orgasm, in that mine matters most and i dont care if you have one, but that eco-boost is a far better engine than our 4.0l's and fords 5.0l. 420 ft lbs of torque? what do we get, like 270 ft lbs on 93 octane? thats crazy.

I've always heard those 5cyl Colorado's were pretty gutless. Never drove one so I have no idea. I remember seeing a review one time where they could barely even get the wheels to spin. Hell the 5.3 Colorado's seem kinda lazy haha.
