Glad to hear you're making a good recovery. My old man just got out of bypass surgery moments ago. Quite the procedure, makes me reconsider bacon and eggs every morning.

Anyone relocated a turd gen battery to the second battery spot?

The original spot is prone to crack especially with the heavier 27F i have.

Thinking to relocate the battery and use the freed up battery spot for all the aux wiring and such shenanigans.

I'm thinking a second battery tie down tray, then some heavy ass wire, 2/0 over to the original battery along the firewall.

    Quoted from said thread.

Separately, I was banned this year… does that mean I’m out?

    - We will do our best to make it fair and not have anyone in the same state, but it's hard when we have hundreds of participants each year. If you get someone that you’ve sent to in the past and do not want to send to them again, please reach out to @TWSSso we can swap your person.

Regarding bans, depends on the offense. If it’s unkind actions(words) directed towards other humans such as racism, sexism, etc, definitely not participating. I won’t share all info with other elves regarding peoples accounts but sometimes it’s obvious as the Banned Member Memorial Thread does exist.

People have bitched about getting someone local to them in the past. I don’t know as many names nowadays so it could be a crapshoot and you may end up knowing who you’re sending to. But I also have two amigos to rely on that might be able to point out locals. We’ve also seen crazy declines in participants over the years. It’s getting easier every year, but that is also a bummer at the same time.

People will always bitch… I like the idea of potentially getting one of the members I’ve hung out with. I’ve made plenty of good friends here so maybe I’m biased.

    I think it’s fun however it’s done.

I’m doing my part to get my peeps involved :santa2:

Perhaps but it can't be helped, especially if numbers are smaller. It is the same problem I had in my other job, over time my area went from 130-something to 80-something. Unfortunately that can bring different distances into play than years past.

I’m getting ready to take on a similar deal. Need to relocate my battery because of cracking and want to run duels..
I’m thinking one behind the rear passenger seat and the aux battery in the bed. TBD

I have lots of welding cable if you’re in need.

If you are going to do this I most certainly would recommend going with a lithium battery For the auxiliary battery inside the cab and relocating the starter battery to the bed, and also with a dual type charger that can handle lithium. Not only for weight wise but you also don't want to have any issues If the battery fails in any type of way and fumes into the cab. That actually have a lot of really decent LiPo batteries that are not too much more than a comparable North Star board or X2 Power AGM battery with anywhere from 100-120 AMH. Just my two cents..

I like what you’re saying but I have a free X2 sitting in the garage.
Not worried about fumes with agm. Next one I have to buy will be LiPo for sure

If your still thinking flatbed, Im putting them right on the other side of the rear seat, Should be plenty of solid real estate opened up with ditching the stock bed

I only worry about the fumes because me and pepper sleep in there  and that's also why I don't want to do a behind the seat setup like your old truck. Same deal. We use that area for sleep.

I have to do an oil change today and I'll look at the second battery location. I could have sworn the stock location is cantilevered and that's the biggest cause for cracking, but the second battery spot is over the fender. Still thin but it's not cantilevered.

I'm also not a doctor so i could be wrong.

It might be more about finding a better spot than the best spot.

Neither are cantilevered, body is supported by the cab mount we all like to cut off and the radiator support.

Passenger side might be slightly stronger, but strong enough? No way.

Any plans for bigger tires? Could have something where the spare goes

AGM is sealed and in the cab/cabin of other vehicles. Considered safe so I never worried and never read of anything bad.

    Pepper is the dog right?:anonymous::rofl:

I thought about that, it could really suck to lift or pull a battery from there. Maybe a jack to help out?

I have the 1000 lb one and its great. Gets work done

Ive also thought about a hinged thing but it also uses the spare tire hoist to lift it up.

For me I wont need this, itll all be from a panel on the top

Nah - at least not for the next 18 months - sticking with 31s and stock suspension.

Next year is basically a maintenance year. I'll probably hit 100k, and there's been a lot of "it technically works and is safe but isn't 'oem' so to speak" repairs and maintenance that I want to spend the time to make good.

...and maybe a new skid plate. I think I can get this one back up this year.

Haven't really been a fan of batteries in the spare holder but to each their own. Not sure where I'd put the spare. Considering it's more of a broverlander for a while anyway I'm not too fussed. Just want to be ahead of issues from the battery where it is.
