Guess I am on the outside here, I love the cold and snowy weather. Went to La Salette to walk around the lights last night.

I’m with you here. If it’s going to be below 40 I’d rather have snow and be colder. The worst weather ever is when it’s 34 degrees and rain.

I might change my mind after I go in the 6 degree weather and go attempt to build and exhaust.

If it's cold yes I'd like something to show for it. Rhode island cold is bullshit. Too cold to do stuff outside comfortably, but not cold enough for ice to form and no snow. No skating skiing etc.

I do respect that we get about 2 months less of the BS though, in RI vs NH.

Mostly annoyed because we have to go out with the dog, and these 3-4 days are bitterly cold to have to that with

Ok, question for the group. I am looking at the 5100 1-3" lift from @memario1214 at Hot Shot off-road. Do I need to get new springs? And if so which ones would work best for me. I don't know if I will add much additional weight to the front down the road. Maybe a slim type bumper if anything.
Only looking to lift 1" to 1 1/2".

5100s are designed around the oem spring. People use old man emu springs because they fit, but the 5100s were never designed with that application in mind and it's more that they just happen to fit in the perch

@Brownmatthall is 100% correct in this statement. The 5100's are made for the OEM spring as well as the Old Man Emu Springs being able to fit as well. The big difference though is that you can not adjust you settings with the Old Man Emu spring and you need to swap out the spring if you add more weight or want to change stiffness or height. With the OEM spring, you adjust it by taking apart the shock and changing the height adjuster. If your OEM spring is too rusty, and you don't want to go with the Old Man Emu , then you can some 600lb Eibach springs (same as your oem)and go from there.

Thank you @Brownmatthall & @crashngiggles. How hard it is to use my existing springs? Is taking apart the existing set-up easy/ safe? It would be nice to save the $200 by using my existing one but not worth getting hurt either.

I have a "wall mounted" spring compressor. It is fairly simple and if you do not mind the drive to Wilbraham MA, i can help you get them swapped out. Using the rented one from autozone can be .....well lets just day sketchy. I don't have a garage so we might have to wait until the spring when it starts to warm up but if you don't mind waiting, i can help you.

@crashngiggles and @AllTacosFloat waiting is fine as I probably won't have everything till the spring anyway. I will also have the sliders from @AllTacosFloat sanded/repainted by then and ready to be installed.

I’d be in. Not sure what I’ll work on but I’ll have something.

Just froze my ass off removing the downpipe, breaking 1 stud in the process leading to turbo removal.

Remember this post. This was the first post in your journey of the shenanigans. "well i have that done, i might as well do THIS next. And then if I'm doing that i might as well do THIS thing, too....."

8 months later you've spent a mortgage and you've got a taco on 40s. See you in 8 months :)
Keep me posted. I have nothing pending (planned) but am happy to get dirty and lend a hand. God knows karmas in that favor at this point for me.
