Sacramento to LA is 385 miles away.

Hartford to Washington DC is 340.

The scale of how far away people "in California" are from the fires is something we tiny staters don't typically comprehend

Would you avoid going to Hartford because DC was on fire?

Correction - would you use the fires as the ONLY reason to avoid Hartford? :p

While I was out visiting my sister who lived in San Francisco, we went on a week long road trip. Didn't leave the state.

I obviously know that......I completely understand that it is not in his back yard...wait....do you smell that? That was "sarcasm " lol. This is why i labeled it "people in Cali eight now" and not " @SACTOWN right now. " but then again, most of California has dealt with a forest fire in the past decade or so.

Reno is farther West than Los Angeles. CA north to South is a lot like driving through TX. You can drive all day and still be in CA. (Mostly because you're going 28 mph on the 5 and 405 once you hit LA)

Controlled burns, I don’t understand why more are not happening. Fire is good for some ecosystems.

That's a huge part of what's happening. A lot of transplants wanting to plant non native species too. Stuff that gets cut and just sits there drying out. Add hurricane force winds, no water, no fire breaks, and it's a recipe for - well, THIS.

Lack of brush clearing is a big deal out there right now. One of the things we looked at when we were ("were" still are but it's pretty close to a pipe dream at this point) considering a move to San Diego.

I did a paper back in the 90s, all about wild fire and what not, it was clear then they needed to do something, and here we are 30 years later, guess I should have sent them my paper.

Anybody happen to be sitting on a set of proefx mirrors with signal and defroster. I think it got knocked off by the salt truck that sped down the road last night. I had salt rocks on top of my truck 10 ft back from the driveway and salt 50ft down the driveway. I don't use salt anywhere but my food so it wasn't me lol. I could swap to my stock mirrors but those don't have defrosters in them

The signal covers are available on eBay. Search for Dodge ram tow mirror signal covers. Mine cost about $10.00.

I don’t remember if it came with a thin rubber seal or not. I’m sure a thin coat of gasket maker spread with a toothpick would work.
