Bridge work is complete, I believe and there is no more rotary on the mainland side of the Sagamore bridge. There is one on the Cape side of the Bourne Bridge. Also, I have lived here for many, many years and I have yet to see any civilian using the breakdown lane on Rt. 6 for anything other than a breakdown. I'm sure it's happened, but I don't think it's a common practice.

Thanks for the update on the bridge.
We've gone down to the Cape in Oct every year for after the summer vacation.
A friend lends his house and his family goes to Vermont to stay in ours. It works out great.
Also the breakdown driving is between Boston & the Bridge on Rt 3 to clarify not on 6. Sorry for any confusion. I see it every time I drive down there unless we go a different way (not on 3).

I am thinking I will take back roads to the bridge so we can experience it and then take the tunnel on the way back to avoid traffic on a labor day Monday. There are always those little surprises on trips that catch us off guard. Any of you guys wants to meet up for a drink there on me for the help!

I'll keep it in mind and thank you! If your only going down there for a few days enjoy the place your staying at for sure. Take in the town of Chatham and you will have fun. I thought you were going down for the LD week so forget about P-town.....just enjoy close to where your staying. Just another of my 2 cents....LOL!!!

I'll be driving to VT in early September for a little R&R at the parents house. I've done the drive a few times before, going to see if I can beat my time of 40 hours. Mapquest says its 38 hours drive time.:)

My thoughts would be if your staying in Chatham just Saturday and Sunday I would get on the road no later than 5-6 AM. This will give you plenty of time to take the normal rte 28 drive instead of 6A. Then you can see like i said before things on 28 that may catch your eye for the weekend such as bars/eateries and so on.......Or do the same and get on 6A either way...........get on the road as early as possible.....and if your checkin is later in the day i'm sure you can find things to do down there before checkin. There are roads you can take from like South Yarmouth to the Bass River Bridge but if your out early.....no rush needed...take your time....enjoy the ride/scenery!

The snow was great. An unusually wet spring = lots of late season backcountry skiing.
