New Englanders: where do you go to have Cosmoline applied

I have a ‘22 that will soon see its first Massachusetts winter. I’d like to undercoat the truck with Cosmoline to protect from the salt. Unfortunately life is getting in the way and I don’t know if I will have an opportunity to DIY it. Are there any shops in the area that will do a decent job? I’d prefer eastern mass but am willing to make a drive out of state if need be.

There are a few forum members in Mass and CT that spray Fluid Film or Woolwax for a small fee.

 

I take my '21 Taco to Monson Road Garage just over the state line in CT.
Best to schedule as soon as possible as their Fall schedule fills up fast.

 

I bought my truck in ma., living here in nw connecticut, and asked the dealer the same question under coating it with cosmoline. They knew of none. I ended up doing it in my driveway on one of the hottest days of the summer. So far going into its 3rd winter, this stuff is holding up great. I was informed of other shops, but they use their own stuff that needs reapplying every year or so. I've been that route, and its a pita. I wanted something that lasts, and these guys don't do it, or they'd be out of business without repeat customers.

 

Have you looked into Ziebart for your rustproofing. I just had my second vehicle done there and they do a great job and it is pretty much permanent. You can go in each year if you want for a touchup that is about $60 or so. I highly recommend them.

 

Are you North Shore MA?

I use NH Oil Undercoating. They have authorized applicators all over NE.

There is a shop in North Hampton, NH that I’ve been using that does a good job.

I would recommend taking you spare tire off and just throwing it in the bed before getting the oil applied. This will give them extra room to really hose down the rear portion of the frame.

 

NH oil seems like a great option. Do you have any experience with longer term kept vehicles and how it holds up for 7-10:winters? I am thinking of moving to the northeast. The Tacoma needs to last..won’t be able to replace it (6MT being phased out)

 

I'm in the same boat as you; my new Tacoma is not yet to the dealership (hopefully by mid-October), and given the dearth of manual transmission vehicles in the future, this truck will need to last me for the rest of my driving life. I live only a few miles south of NH Oil's Chichester, NH location, so I'll be scheduling an appointment as soon as my Taco hits the dealership.

 

I know a friend that has nh oil do his truck every fall. Thats the issue with undercoatings if your not able to do it yourself. You got plan a day then take a trip to them. Imo, its a pita. Just as easy, and more fun to buy the stuff, and some 3m coveralls and have at in your driveway.
