New Entune Update?

Did anybody else have their head unit go through an update process today or the last day or so? I had it happen this AM but as always you can never find out what it had or does. I did try to search and didn't see anything.

Yes. I have the JBL Premium Entune Audio in my 2017 DCSB Sport.

 

Does Entune update with the Entune App installed on your phone? My Entune without JBL has worked flawlessly for the past year and a half. I am hesitant on receiving an update. You know the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

 

I saw an update show up about three weeks ago and applied it (*), seemed to update a couple apps. I know that since that update and the iPhone Entune app update around the same time I've found Pandora from the headunit to be much more stable. I haven't seen any difference i
n functionality.


@TA2016 Yes, seems to funnel over from the phone via the Entune app. You end up seeing an "UPDATE" button on the Apps page.

(*) it showed up the day before I was taking the truck in for its 5K service, so my risk was minimized

 

12.5k and 1.5 years in, haven't seen an update yet.

 

Are there update notes in regards to what the update included?

 

I hope it fixed the Pandora problems I am having after my s7 updated to nougat.

 

Just got my truck this past Saturday and yesterday got the update. Didn't read, just hit update. It's so new to me I wouldn't know what changed.

 

The update didn't say what it had in it.

 

just to clarify, is the update for the Headunit? or smartphone app?

 

This was a head unit update. I did not have an app update. Today my head unit showed it was downloading the update and it applied. I think this is just for apps on the head unit. and not a firmware update for the unit per say

 

Mine updated awhile back and now my Pandora app works.

 

The iOS phone app updated Feb 22 and Pandora started working much more reliably. Never had issues with it failing while in use, but I often had to restart the Entune app when getting into the truck. Since the update it's been pretty solid.

There was also an update to apps in the headunit in early March.

 

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I will....

I stream music via Spotify a lot. I do not use the Entune phone app to do this, I sync my iPhone directly. Each time I turn on the truck, seems like about 50% of the time, the Entune headunit wants to default to iTunes, instead of resuming the previous Spotify session. Anyone else have this issue? any fix?

 

I'd suggest asking that question over on the Macrumors forums; chances are that's on the iphone end. I believe the truck just sees a Bluetooth music source and if still "on" when you start the truck it'll start playing automatically.

This is what happens with my Galaxy S6 whatever app was most recently played on the phone whether that be it's speaker or my bluetooth headset. In my case this is the preferred function for me.
