    OP tonneau looks good.
I'm also a fan of the OEM cover.

We just had some major rain for most of the day and my truck bed was basically dry, maybe a few drops, but nothing like the pictures above. The picture below is just to show the cover off, as you can see it is not an actual rainy day photo. I had to work all day in the rain so no photos, but I did check the bed for water before I left work to go home. I also stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for the night.

Maybe I`m wrong and it would not be the first time, but with this type of bed cover I`m not sure you can expect 100% waterproof protection. I would think that the only cover to offer that level of protection and dryness would be a hard solid cover that totally covers the bed rails. Any rubber gasket will leak if the mounting surface is not flat and is textured.

I don't believe the OEM cover or similar after market covers are meant to be 100% dry. Or 100% secure.

Agreed, I just want to make sure if I hit a monsoon during a road trip I don't end up with the contents of my bed completely soaked. A few drops of water squeezing through wouldn't be much of a worry.

I understand that a little leaking should be expected. But my new Solid Fold 2.0 leaks ALOT compared to my Trifecta that is 8 years old. The seals are different on the Trifecta and it was installed on a Frontier which had smooth bed caps. The Trifecta never leaked a drop. I thought going with a new design would give good results. There are companies that sell smooth bed rail caps but none are ready for the 16 tacoma. I might just deal with the leaking and change out the bed caps when they are available.

It is not smooth. I'm not sure how it compares to the 3rd gens, but the gaskets are pretty thick and compliant, and I have my front attachment points very tight. I also don't use the rear brackets, and instead just hook the spring loaded handles into the bed rail. Like I said, it's not watertight, but it doesn't leak in the rain.

My Solid Fold 2.0 does the same thing. Water dripping down on the sides. I'm pretty sure it's due to the texture of the rail caps. All of those raised dimples will make it difficult for any cover to seal correctly. I've also considered applying some foam weather stripping to the bed rails to see if that would help.

Even though I have some water dripping on the sides, I have a bed mat and the drips always stay under the mat.

I just took my Taco to the dealer to find out about the same problem... I know it's not 100% waterproof, but it's not supposed to be THAT BAD. All my stuff was soaking wet after one day of rain - from 0600 till 1800. I am talking about bags of gear. That crap (OEM) is worthless to me if they won't fix it.

After looking at the pics above I do see one major difference. My cover goes to the outside edge of the bed and coverd my bed rails completely, while yours leaves a lot of the bed rails uncovered and able to catch water. So did the bed get physically wider and longer while the cover remained the same as for 2nd gens?

Here's a pic that show the fit that I'm referring to. On my 2nd gen the bed rails are almost completely covered, while on the 3rd gen there's a lot still showing. It rained quite a bit here the past two days, and I was parked outside at work for much of it. Although my gasket foam is damp, the bed is dry. Seems like they are trying to use a cover that is too small for the 3rd gens.

Great point, that's a major difference in coverage than what I've seen on the 3rd gen beds.

Do the bed rail covers have the raised dimpled texture on the 2nd gen?

More pics of how it sits on a 2nd gen. (2013 reg cab) not 100% water tight, but overall ive been really happy with it!
