Mine came in today! :bananadance: Too bad the truck is in the shop with less than 1000 miles on it :censored:

The cover is super light and should be easy to remove and install!

I just got one of the Solid Fold covers. My favorite aspect is how easy they can be installed and removed - less than 5min to install/remove. Mainly I plan to use the bed uncovered to carry bike and such -- and then add the cover for trips, or when carrying anything that I need to be secured in the back.

I was wondering, it would surely be a lot easier if the front tie-downs were also the spring loaded versions, instead of the wing-nut style. Any reason they don't use the spring loaded tie downs in the front of the cover?

Good info in this thread. I had an original Extang Solid fold on my 2007 Tacoma and never had a single issue, it was awesome and stayed really dry. I tried to make it fit my 2016 but wasn't happy with how it lined up. The gasket for the head rail was too thick and it felt too wide for the rails which made the rear corners hang over a bit. So I sold it and bought a new Solid Fold 2.0 for the 2016...excited to try it out, shows up today, sounds like I'll just have to place it a little more carefully and make sure it's close to the cab. BTW, I got it from Luke @ Truck Alterations (vendor on here). $680 with free shipping. He sold me my first cover as well, good experience with them.

I am using a 2nd gen on my 3rd gen...
I used a spatula to push the weather stripping gasket out at the front, then tightened her down really good...lines up perfect. There is a small gap on the corners, barely noticeable...(see pics up thread). Good enough for my present needs and I saved a bundle going this route.

Got the truck back tonight so popped the cover on. First impression was it's nice and light. Open it up and there's a ding in the panels! WTF! Going to call auto anything and see if they will send me a new one or something.

Install was super easy. I used the front brackets, but couldn't use the rear. The cover is too long. The rear clips fit the bed rails without the brackets just fine so this really isn't an issue, but still bothers me a tad.

The panels do feel kinda cheap to me and are basically foam. Overall I'm happy with it. It looks great, is very easy to install and very light.

It does feel kinda like a downgrade from the roll and lock on my 07, but they're two different covers and the roll and lock is double the price.

    I hope the panels are a little more durable, but we will see.20151209_144047.jpg 20151209_212831.jpg 20151209_212838.jpg 20151209_212842.jpg 20151209_212923.jpg 20151209_212901.jpg 20151209_212940.jpg 20151209_212940.jpg 20151209_212956.jpg

Just remove those little plastic stoppers in the rails and you will gain the 1/2 inch you need...

Thanks for those pics of the 2.0 on a 2nd gen Tacoma. That was EXACTLY what I wanted to see. Looks like its a good snug fit all around. I'm definitely gonna order one now for my 2014 prerunner. Now I just need to wait til the price drops again from $819. Thanks rcsteele!

Reach out to Luke at Truck Alterations. He is a vendor on here and has special pricing for TW members. I just got mine for $680 out the door with free shipping and he was great to work with. Here is his email if you need it: sales@truckalterations.com

Yes, I believe they are out of NC, not sure the exact city. I've always just dealt with him online and via email. I ordered my first Solid Fold from him years ago for my 2007 Tacoma and when it came time to buy one for my 2016 I emailed Luke again. His website (www.truckalterations.com) isn't the most advanced or up to date, but if you email and work directly with him he made it very easy.

Like it, and it's along the lines if not what I am planning on doing. Question about the lift. I see you adjusted the coilovers, my question is will yo get more travel while offroading/flexing then stock even with the coilovers adjusted or do adjusting the coilover limit the flex of the suspension?

Great question, unfortunately I don't actually know how it affects the travel. My knowledge on lifts is pretty limited when it comes to the super technical stuff. I adjusted the coils a little as I needed the height to compensate for the factory overload in the rear. I can say that it rides much better than any lifted truck I've had to date (Spacer lifts and Bilsteins) and I'm confident it will tackle my needs which consist mainly of fire roads and Utah mountains.

Just received my Extang 2.0 and installed in 15 minutes. Seems to seal very well with the rubber gasket attached to the cover. I could see light through the cover from the inside before latching down, and it seems pretty water tight after installation. Will keep you posted after driving in the wet weather the next two days.cover1.jpg cover2.jpg cover3.jpg

Hey... anyone have experience with this Solid Fold 2.0 during the winter... IE... Ice and snow.... freezing the little rubber seals to the box...??... I'm thinking I may have made a bad choice here and should have kept the Access Larado roll-up... it was real good in winter for 10 yrs. and still good when sold 06 Taco...

I have heard that the joints will ice-up and the top will freeze to the box unless you put silicone on the rubber gasket thingies...!!

    Any past experience on this...??

    Thanx..
