So how many psi should be in a LT tire? Costco put my E rated discoverer st maxx @ 50psi, is that good?

If there is no letter before the size of the tire I think that is standard load one step up from passenger tire

OP those are exactly the tires I'd purchase when it's my time. The SL load is a little more beefy than the P tire but doesn't ride like a tank like the E or LT rated. Which is better is really for you to decide, and perhaps over time you will try different sets and form an opinion, but personally what you have on there, whether intentional or not, is probably a good fit for a first time truck owner looking to explore more but not go buck wild while retaining a decent highway ride.

I run mine right at 30psi. Tire place had them at 36,37 out the door but that was just too hard for a decent ride I found. 30 is just about perfect for me. I have the 116T Rated ones, dont need anything heavier for back roads and trails. I’ll eat the risk of sidewall issues for the lighter fuel burn.

Wow thread revival, anyone running this tire on a 315/70R17 10 ply size? I find at 28psi the rear tread still has about 1cm on the edge that is not fully contacting the ground on pavement but my bed is empty. Front is at 30psi which is fine, keep in mind it's cold here atm around 0-5 degrees Celsius. Wondering if I should go even lower in the back or just throw some weight in the bed.

I run my AT 2’s at 45psi as well, I feel like I get way better fuel mileage that way. I feel like the truck is riding on marsh mellows if the go into the 30’s.

I go by whatever is written on my door jam sticker, which is 30/30 psi

My upsized tires are set @ 30 psi, but I bump it up to 32 psi in the winter.

Your avatar shows you in S. Cal. and you're running 45 psi? Maybe "I feel like I get way better fuel mileage", but I'll bet those suckers will wear out real quick in the center of the tread.

A 112 or 115 is usually comparable to load range C.

    I have 112's and I run them @ 30psi cold.

315/70R17 at 30PSI, still too much air I think because the outside tread is not dirty so it's not contacting the ground. This size only comes in E load which is very stiff for this size truck which is why I think I should air down some more for driving in the city otherwise they're only wearing in the middle. Doesn't have this issue when the bed is loaded, this photo was taken with bed empty.

You should always check and adjust air pressure after tire store. Those gorillas just use an air gun, hold the trigger but don't check pressure. Same with wheel lug nuts. They usually overtighten. First thing I do back home is loosen then re-torque.

Tires generally are marked around the bead area as “STANDARD LOAD” for passenger/P-metric tires. Tires marked as “EXTRA LOAD” or “LOAD RANGE” followed by D, E, F etc., are rated for beyond standard.
