    @tcBob

    Bob, Since migrating to the updated forum software, I've noticed that when searching, I've lost the ability to perform historical searches by time.

    i.e. I want to search my posts from year 2010, month, July, for example. I can't seem to do that anymore.

    I see an option for "newer than", but when I try that, the search results are limited to 10 pages, and there is no way to go further back.

    I'm mostly concerned with searching by the time metric.

    Can that be modified?

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks.

    Not critical but in the past we were able to click the thread post count and see a breakdown of amount of posts by person in that thread. Is this possible on the new site and I just can't find it?

    @tcBob

    Did you make an update to the forum software? I noticed there is a visible progress bar when uploading pictures that wasn't there before.

    Im curious, how much space do the uploaded truck and cat pics we upload take up on the server? :D

    No I think the progress bar has been there (I don't upload a ton so I can't recall). As for space, you guys are uploading about 200-300MB a day of attachments. It used to be just 100-150MB/day until we bumped up the quality of the attachments.

    What's the criteria for which images get hosted by TW or not. Like, if you just to img tags with a url, it seems some files stay hosted on wherever it was, and some turn into TW urls. Or maybe that's my imagination.

    If you notice in the address bar of the site, there's a little green lock icon which means communication between your device (phone, PC, tablet, etc) and the TW server is secure, and can't be snooped by any communication provider between you and the server (like Comcast, TWC, the creepy guy in the coffee shop -- serious, etc).

    Well when you embed a pic, some pic hosts are still behind the times and don't support secure protocols, so the TW server downloads those particular pics and proxies them for you. Hosts that do support secure communication (and don't require us proxying) include www.imgur.com, www.photobucket.com and a few others.

    So that's why some get hosted here (are proxied), and some we can allow to be linked directly from their source.

    No worries.

    There is a max quota for uploads on everyone's account. I don't recall the # at the moment but clearly your 1600+ pics haven't hit that size limit yet.

    I've been noticing a lot of double posts lately, my computer sits there with the upload marker in the upper right, I have hit f5 to refresh, and it shows my post, but also leaves my draft in place in the reply box.
    Maybe a Gremlin in the server!
