I've been experimenting with pressures. A couple of lbs makes a big difference. I gained 2 mpg going from 32r/33f to 36 all around. 36 was too hard in the back with an empty bed. Why have it jarring on bumps when it doesn't have to be.

As soon as it snowed, I realized how much worse the traction was at 36. Went back down to 33/34 and seems to be a good balance.

But I'm not following my own theory that I posted above. I like the fronts harder than the rear.

Running MS2's. My point being- play with it if you feel like it. A lot of people would be surprised what a difference 2 lbs makes on either end.

    Same as everybody else...
I just ordered a set to replace the Geolanders on my ride. I talked with a dude that has them on his Frontier 4x4 this weekend and he really liked them.

as a bridgestone/firestone employee, i am glad to hear you like your firestone tires.
i too have a 4 banger. it had the retched dunlops on it 245/75r16 , i installed (5) 265/75r16 bridgestone dueler revo 2's
i lost 3 mpg to this move.(i didn't think it would be so much difference)
i do like the ride of the bigger tires, but next go around will drop back to the 70 series.
due to the shift points on the gearing i don't hit overdrive until 65 mph on highway.

Good to hear this- I was concerned about the shift points when getting new tires a month ago. I ended up going with the 70 series. SO many guys on here say don't worry about it, the 75's won't affect the shift points at all. But to be honest, I can even tell a difference in going from the 245-75 to 265-70's. The combo of a very slight diameter increase + added resistance does, in fact, make a difference. I like the look of the bigger 265-70's but the trade offs aren't worth it to me.

On my last truck i went from the Revos, to Destination AT then Destination LE's. They were all the same size. The Revos had the worse mileage. They also had the worse low speed handling on pavement. I don't know if its the tread or the rubber compound but they seemed to have a high rolling resistance.

The AT and LE seemed to get about the same mpg. The LE's are just much quieter and did seem to accelerate a little better. I really like the AT's though. My wife has them on her FJ Cruiser right now. I'm. Planning to replace my Dunlops with them as well. I'm interested to see if my mpg drops. I hate the Dunlops but they do seem to roll well.

I knew I would lose some mpg's just from the fact that I was switching from a rib (highway) design to the AT.
Yes there is a difference in rolling resistance. ='s less mpg!
But all in all, for what my employee discount added up to, I could not pass it up.

A little information for all of you.
We have a house brand tire available also, the primewell tire brand.
It's cheaper. Feedback from our local farmers on the PW AT has been great also, they may wear out quicker than the premium brands, but the cost isn't as much.

I replaced the Dunlops on my 08 Taco with Destination ATs and I didn't notice any drop in mileage. Great tire IMO.

Don't think that I am saying that the AT is a bad tire, it is a good tire.
One of our best all around tires available. I would have bought the Firestone AT, but we had a customer switch out a brand new set of 265/75r16 duelers, so I got a smoking deal on them. After 10 days he wanted a set of 285's.

    4cyl? Or 6?
    Same size or bigger?
I believe the mpg drop will be more noticed with the 2.7. Mainly due to gearing.
It's not a complete dog, but you can definitely feel the difference when you upsize the tires.

Love my destination AT's! Been running them for about a year. Had a set of Revo's before that but the tread life was terrible. These AT destroyed the foot and a half of snow we had the other week and the tread life is amazing. I'm running 265-70-17.

Destination AT tires have poor ice performance compared to any winter tire. Why expect the abs to help much in any way. Abs Can only modulate availble traction at the wheels. If there is little stopping traction, with of without abs, you are in a death trap.
Your stopping distance will increase on glare ice more with abs for sure. That's your abs "searching" for traction when there is none or very little. That is a function of your tires which are still crappy on ice.

My 2008 was a 2.7, but I did not change tire size. I used the stock 245-75r16.

I guess I'll find out...I have Firestone Destinations on my wife's SUV and they have been great after 30k plus miles. I talked to a guy who had ATs on his Frontier 4x4 and he likes them.

Went back to stock size...245x75x16. So far so good, no problem driving in snow or mud and the tires are pretty quiet on the highway. I think I made the right choice going with these but we'll see.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to decide between sticking with the 245/75/16 or going to the 265/70/16. The 265 is slightly wider and I'm thinking should give a little better traction. Just not sure how noticeable it would even be. I know switching to this tire from the Dunlop's will be better at any size anyway.

Decided to go with the stock size, 245/75/16. Didn't think there was enough difference in the 265/70/16 size to justify the cost. (The prices for tires are really nuts these days.) I'm curious to see if gas mileage is affected. The truck drove better immediately. It takes off from a stop better too.

I've had these on since February and really like the tire. No problems with snow or mud and quiet on the highway. My only gripe is that the tires seem to pickup stones from gravel road. When I switch from gravel to pavement the tires start chucking stones when I get up to speed.
