I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
Butt connector is a better splice if you don't want to solder.

If its not plug and play, I stay away. On a new expensive truck I would never cut a factory wire for anything. Thinking or afraid the computer would go nuts. Bigger balls than I... will be watching on sidelines. Remember the member that bought a Fj top of the dash compass, tilt a wirl,etc....started a thread, cut holes on the top dash, cut wires, got three quarters through the project, then nothing? Juss sayin , my two cents.

Gotcha... Too bad the Caribe Maikara thread isn't still up. He had a very clean way to do this mod by shuffling the pins in the fuse panel. Yours is very clean looking also, his just required no wiring at all. I don't know what happened to his thread, all the pics got deleted and the write up is gone :(

Meh... as long as you do your homework and know what wires you're messing with, no harm done. Aimlessly cutting wires is a horrible idea. Hell, I've got a ton of extra wires and splices in my truck and everything is running perfectly.

Understandable James, if you are comfortable doing it no problem. I am ASE Master certified and I know what I am doing.

The only wire I cut is the red/black that goes to term 1 of fog relay. This is a trigger wire for the relay. When it is hot, it grounds through term 2, which in turn energizes the relay to close, closing the circuit on your fogs and lighting them up.

This wire is simply now getting its power from the green wire which is an ignition wire.

The other end of where it is cut now simply hangs free (capped off) from the solid state logic box that is the culprit in telling it to only energize with headlights on and turn off with high beams.

    Can't argue that.

Wow I didn't know that one was gone. Definitely was a great way of doing it.

Didn't that one tap into a circuit that turned on after the engine had been off for a half hour to clear exhaust or something or other? The result was your fog lights would turn on after the truck had been parked for aittle while. Or am I thinking of a different fog mod?

I could be completely off base. It's been a while since I did the fog anytime mod.

I wouldn't use this on anything outside of the truck, but under the fuse box where its pretty much safe from water getting into it. Inside the cab I find these to be ok as well. As soon as its outside the cab, soldering and heat shrink is required. :D
