What's nice on most Ford and GM vehicles is the built in cellular remote start and unlock/lock. Many times I've started the truck and unlocked the doors from my phone from out of the range of the key fob when we are loading kids in the morning without dicking around with a fob or button on the door handle. Hopefully Toyota will include it on the 2020 refresh, I can't remember if it was one of the new features. It's free on Fords that have Sync 3 for 6 years. I'm not sure what the cost is on GMs since it uses LTE to communicate with your phone.

Or, you know, just take both keys that came with the vehicle... If the fob is too bulky, you can always get a Lexus credit card-sized key programmed at the dealer. The absence of knee-jabbing outweighs all these manufactured "inconveniences".

I both like and dislike the wireless key concept. It is nice in a lot of ways, but there are also car thefts now because people can just wait for you to hit lock on your key fob when you leave the car and gain the information they need to drive your vehicle away. It was a problem in Medicine Hat, Alberta not to long ago. The cops even put out a notice that people should manually lock their doors with the button inside the vehicle until they found the thieves.

There is nothing to jingle in the Tacoma key though, unless for some strange reason you attached house keys or something else to it.

On my keychain, I have house keys, fuel cap key, and gas station Speedpass keytag.

BTW there looks to be no easy way to lock the Ranger fuel filler, since there's no twist cap.

The Ranger is a good looking truck, but not so good looking at the reviews. The rear seat is doesn't fold in a way to make it flat for cargo. Doesn't have good articulation for offroading. And the MPG number is bunk. TFL ran one from LA to Denver, 20mpg. TFL ran one towing on the Ike Gauntlet, MPG towing was about .1 MPG better than the Tacoma.

Then you throw in that ridiculous 18 gallon fuel tank . . . .

I’ve always thought the first, second, third gen Ranger 4x4 and sport editions were incredibly sharp looking trucks, especially when lifted 3’ plus... Whenever I see one it’s an automatic head-turner for me. Personally I’m not feeling the new aesthetic, the new rangers just seem like micro f150s, I’m glad they’re making them again, but I wish they had more of a distinguishing look.

I am sure you can get a locking cap if you want want since it is an option for the other Ford vehicles. I haven't felt a need to get one since I am hardly in any sketchy areas and park inside my garage at night. The easy fill is a nice feature.

^Ah OK, looks like Ford sells a locking butt plug with a key for it:
