I like the sleek front end. I don't need a big snout on the front end to make me feel all manly.

The 10 speed auto in the new F150s is amazing. You don't even feel the shifts, and they are instantaneous. Plus if you use the manual shifting option, it will actually hold onto a higher gear instead of downshifting. When downshifts are needed, it can skip 3 or 4 gears down instantaneously though.

I do love the "sport" mode. Disables the auto stop start tech and holds gears for fun on the onramps

Can't wait to see the final numbers. HP, torque, weight, MPG, roof height, etc.

Looks fine to me. Most of those wheel choices are ugly though.

I bet some of the Ecoboost Mustang parts fit.

I should downsize to an econobox myself. Don't use the bed enough to put up with the gas mileage.

Although the 2.3 Ecoboost is used in a multitude of Ford vehicles, the motor in the Ranger is based of the 2.3 Ecoboost out of the Focus RS.

^Of course "based" may mean any degree of things. How much is the Taco 3.5 engine based on the IS350 engine?

Interesting, so the Supercab has a larger front door than the Supercrew:

Another thing you notice when you print a summary with the online configurator: the headlights come on automatically when you activate wipers.

Just went through the build & price. Came to $30,170 for the truck I'd get, which is a XL, Supercab, 6' bed, rear seat delete, e-locker (that is very nice, locker as a standard option independent of trim).

It's essentially what my Taco has become, starting as a TRD OR that I've taken just about everything except the locker off. That MSRP is a few thousand more than I paid used with 42k on it. Wouldn't be surprised if incentives and rebates bring the price of the Ranger to what a 6 year old Tacoma costs. The reason I won't do a Ranger is the automatic. Just not ready to throw in the towel yet.

Good. It’s the law. Seems a lot of people can’t be bothered to turn their headlight knob these days.

Let me tell you about a time, not that long ago, when people were conscious and aware of their surroundings. They knew things like when to turn on headlights. It was even common that they knew that the left lane was for passing and the right lane for traveling! Such a wonderful, joyous time it was.

Oh man! Sounds magical. Like a movie? Was it real life? Did they really say things like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’?

I was born too late. I miss everything! :pout:

When I was in high school putting $5 in the tank really meant something and even then the old timers complained that charging $0.92/gal was criminal and I thought the same thing. Those 1960s must have been alright. But I wouldn't give up being a 1970s/1980s kid for anything.

$5 gets me 65 miles down the highway. Probably about the same distance as a few gallons in the 70s haha.

That's true, I had an old Plymouth with a 273 cid V8 and 2-speed PowerFlite back then. It probably was gallons per mile. After high school, when I went out on my own, I had a '83 Honda Civic and $5 got 150 miles in that thing. Now $5 gets me about 35 miles in my truck. Inflation and terrible mileage is a double hit.

May or may not be the law depending on jurisdiction. I am of the opinion that full headlights are for you to see, while running lights/DRLs are for your truck to be seen. Where I live, DRLs are required by law, and they are sufficient for my truck to "be seen" unless the rainfall is really heavy.
Having automatic functions is progress though. Do you want to be bothered with pulling some choke lever every time you start the vehicle?
