I already declined the other services they were offering.

My ONLY issues are as follows....

the price... $400 for toyota shocks. I'd rather pay 200$ for adjustable Billsteins

also the fact that a shock "blew up" and they were very firm that they had to replace both, i know that stuff happens but this seems just so odd.

i have seen shocks just blow out before
i lifted up a taco to change the oil and when i lifted it up the shock started leaking oil everywhere as the body of the shock was rotted out and couldnt hold the pressure anymore
maybe that is the case with you truck

If you didn't agree for them to install the Toyota shocks tell them to take them off.

DO NOT AGREE TO PAY FOR THE SHOCKS. if you didn't authorize to have the shocks replaced then they cant legally make you pay for them. they cant perform any work on your truck without getting your permission. threaten to file a complaint with the states attorney genral and the licensing board as well as the county better business and the prosecuting attorney file a complaint with the police department for fraud and deceptive business practice's

Also look at some of the reviews on Yelp and you will see that you are not the first person to complain about Ira charging you for service that you did not authorize. Gotta love Yelp.

I don't remember what shocks pay. I have yet to do any suspension work on the latest generation taco. The previous generation, I did shocks on a 2wd truck. The shock bolted up on top with a nut and bushing, and the bottom had two bolts that went into the under side of the control arm. Took all of 5 minutes to change per side, no spring compressing necessary. If the new generation has a shock/spring setup like a macpherson strut, I'd want a little extra time to compress the springs to change the shock out, but probably just an extra .5 per side since the assembly would have to come out of the truck anyway.

They ended up taking off about 150$ for the shocks and when I saw the old shocks they did look pretty beat up so I will let that pass I suppose.

Like a moron I forgot to DECLINE the 120k checkup and they hit me up for a 400$ service when they just "check" a few things here and there and change the sparkplugs.

    HOWEVER

I did bring the truck to an independent mechainc, turns out I DID NOT NEED a new steering rack, just new u joints and a power steering line

I almost forked over 3000$ to the dealer, when in reality it costs about 300$

Not sure if I missed it in the thread but if you weren't feeling any vibes on the road your u-joint isn't too bad. I started getting vibes at around 55 mph (140K miles on truck and it's done a good bit of towing). I took off my driveshaft (10 bolts total) and took it too a shop. It was the rear u-joint. For $256 I got three u-joints and a new center bearing.

So if you didn't get the ujoint done there's an option for you....

Not bashing so don't take this the wrong way, sorry man but you let the dealer walk all over you and that's why they continued to bend you over with the added charges, their shocks and 120k service. I keep reading these threads about guys getting screwed by their dealerships and think to myself "Why the hell are they letting them do this to them ?" Stand up for yourself and they can't do this to you.

Too many time dealers have tried to charge me and tell me that my vehicles "need" things fixed when they don't and I tell the service manager to show me exactly what needs fixed and why, they try and scam me but I always call their bluff.

I'm glad you finally got your truck back and hopefully they did the work the right way and not half-assed. I would definitely contact Toyota corporate and let them know what's happened as well as they local news stations, nothing gets things fixed and gets you repaid for unneeded repairs and cost than when the media jumps in and calls out the dealer for fraudulent charges and work.
