I took my '01 4x4 Dbl Cab in to the Toyota dealer to inspect the frame for rust on 3/11. They are going to REPLACE THE FRAME. Doesn't that basically mean they are going to rebuild my current truck on a new frame? What should I look for (quality checks) when I get my truck back?

Yes ... On the 2001 - 2004 frame rust campaign a 'failed' truck will usually be given a new frame. This does essentially mean the truck will be torn completely down and rebuilt on a new frame. Reports on the frame replacement experience from multiple owners on multiple Taco-related forums have mostly been positive.

    tnek4230,

Make your service writer a "best friend" NOW.....;)

Ask exactly what they "Should" replace and what "needs" to be replaced..
I got a great deal on new shocks at cost( mine were '02 OEM,needed to go anyway;) )...Toyota covered labor :).

If you live close enough, ask to see the "transfer",I did and WOW.....no I did not watch the whole process BUT what I did get to see ,:D..

I CAN NOT EXPRESS THIS ENOUGH.......ask questions NOW,DO NOT BECOME A BIT@# and watch how TOYOTA SHOULD treat their customers....

Hopefully you have a good experience watching your truck "Gain" 15 years of NEW warranty......

    S
