How do you handle building settling / shrinkage with regards to the redi-rod ? Tighten them again just prior to insulation / wallboard ?

there really is no "settling". however, there is some shrinkage to the frame walls, but not enough to matter. I have tightened them up a little if one seems excessively loose.

here is the gig: 12" x 5/8" galv. J bolt placed in the slab during pour (8-10" embedement)...a 1/4" x 2"x2" sq galv. washer & nut bolts the sill plate to the slab...a galv. coupling connected to the remaining bolt stub...a length of 5/8" galv. all-thread rod through the double top plates...w/ another sq washer and nut.

so, even if it was a little loose...it still does its intended job.

keep in mind, there are also SP1 & SP2 clips on studs...straps on openings...and 1/2" plywood tying it all together.

I actually believe the plywood does more than all the steel, to hold the wall together. But, I'm a big believer of "saddle" truss hold downs....that, is the weak spot on most buildings.

    Agreed

The plywood is a huge factor

We have similar connection details but for lateral restraint and seismic loading
