I need to get a bit more power for my 4 banger. Looking at getting 4:88. Was looking at just getting a new third member and clam. I have been pricing out east coast gears. Seams fair price. Once I send in the core. Or should I buy gears and just have a shop do it? What's the pros and cons and is the price about the same if I do the third member vs having a shop do the gears
    Thanks,
    Jake

I recently put 4.88's in my truck. Had ECGS build me the third member and clamshell. Installed the diffs myself. Was pretty easy and straight forward. Saved money by having them build the diffs and also by installing them myself. I would say that if you were to have a shop install either way, having the diffs built already is probably still the cheaper route. Also if you have them build the diffs for you and you add an ARB air locker, they knock off $200 per locker. I got an ARB in the rear and it was $845 extra instead of $1050. Hope this helps. Total after I sent cores back it was $2300 with installing myself
