New Gen 2 owner

Just inherited a 2006 SR5 Tacoma from an older relative who bought it new and didn't drive it much. It pretty much set in his driveway the last few years and only has 66k miles. It's spotless (except for some missing clearcoat) with NO RUST and runs like a new one.

He only got the basic radio (non-JBL) with no steering wheel controls, back-up cam, etc. , and I am going to update the Head unit with one that includes all the whistles and bells, and the crappy speakers.

My first question is, does the stock steering column come prewired for audio controls or is that a major upgrade?

higher packages are prewired (sans clockspring), I'm not sure about SRs. I think they all are

in 06 a backup cam wasn't an option
if you want/need intermittent wipers just need to change the stalk out
there are a few threads on head units, Joying Android units are well liked

for intal depends if you are pre wired but most SRs are not
