Are the 2nd gen threads the same for manual and auto knobs?

It's not overkill in size. Just the camera angle gives it the impression that it's bigger than it is.

When I get my custom ball shift knob from billetworks, if anybody wants, you could have my 3rd gen shift knob. Mine's not a TRD shift knob like the OP's though, just the normal sport one.

Hey I will take you up on that. My hard plastic 2nd Gen knob sucks. If I don't like the 3G better I'll pass it along to another.

No problem. It's yours then. It will take a while to get to me, and when I do, I will take your details to send it to you. :)

For those interested, here is a 3rd gen TRD Pro knob in my 2012 DCSB. Left the bottom plastic piece on cause I may grab a shift boot ring from a 3rd gen to snap on there without the boot to see how that looks before I trim the plastic piece off flush with the bottom of the knob.

Anyone add the automatic leather boot to this? I believe that I’ve seen it somewhere else, but can’t seem to find it.

I just installed mine. Took the chrome trim off the bottom of the stock knob and modified and painted it to give it a little better look. Didn’t like the way it looked without it.

That’s a super clean factory look. Painting the bottom of the OE knob tied the larger knob together with the older console.

    this looks comfortable

anyone know what other differences shifter parts have in 2G vs 16-23? / why the nice looking black retainers only advertise fitting 16-23 and if they can be made to work as well?
