    Hey Tacomaworld,

Recently I've been building and designing a grille that will soon be available for 3rd gen Tacomas.

I understand not everyone has the same taste and will like the same designs but please keep it constructive and on track.

These are just some renderings of the CAD but they're a rough idea of the final grille.

The grille will be made out of ABS plastic and there will be an option to put steel mesh behind the grille as well.

I'd like to see some installed pics without the mesh ..like in the CAD. How are they being produced?? Injection molded, printed? Nice design work

Its a nice break from the TRD pro, BAMF and plastidip grilles but personally I would pass.

But curious, if these are going to be made of ABS are you planning on getting an injection mold made for them? You selling these as a business or hoping there is enough interest here to justify the expense to personally bite the financial bullet?

Move the bottom 2 horizontal bars down a 1/2" and the top bar up 1/2" and add the old school "TOYOTA" fj letters in the second space! Ftmfw

    Then id proably buy it,
Do up a cad for us to check it out anyways!

Needs something in the middle to breakup all the black. Maybe a Toyota Logo?

I can't help but laugh every time I read the "please no negative comments" disclaimer online. This isn't your safe space, OP. If you can't handle other people's opinions, best to lock yourself in the closet and turn off the internet. Hell, I wouldn't have commented on this thread at all had it not been for that "request."

I'm on the fence, not sure about the vertical bars but like the horizontal bars - the mesh makes the grille

    Don't make it bulge forward.

The last thing the 3rd gen needs is to make the nose look more bulbous.

I am digging this and think it would look good in a black plastic. Maybe have the middle bar thicker than the other two?

Screw a Klondike bar, the things I would do to get my hands on a printer that large.

First off, AWESOME design work. Great job

instead of bulging it outward, have you considered following the side profile contour downward? So from top to bottom it goes straight down, then tapers towards the front just like the side view of the grill trim goes? Like in this picture
    Screen%20Shot%202017-02-26%20at%203.02.1_ddd2494822d433acc4e706b1452462dd5e795fd3.jpg

My thinking is that the Tacoma is aggressive looking, from a profile prospective one of the most aggressive grills I've seen OEM is the Ford Fusion (from a profile view), it looks like it's just mean. Maybe I'm just nuts

I like the profile, nice place to put lights behind as well. Nice.

He's probably just asking that rather than a bunch of shitheads make garbage comments with no intention of buying his grille design, that people provide some positive criticism, like the suggestion above with adding old school letters and the like.

The internet surely isn't a safe space but it's also not really a good excuse for people to go shit all in a thread just cause they get blue balls if they don't do otherwise.

It looks like a good design. Like others have stated I think it bulges out too much and should keep a little lower profile staying closer to the surrounding lines above and below it.

I've designed small injection molded parts that will fit in your hand and the molds cost around $5k. For a toilet seat, the mold was $40k. I'd hate to see what the mold for something this size would cost. If you're able to make the numbers work, more power to ya. I wish you luck with it!
