    Hello all -

Just three days ago, I purchased my first Tacoma - white TRD Sport 4x4, manual transmission. So far loving the truck. Just tinted the windows yesterday morning.

First question. Is there a way to use google maps navigation (android) and have the voice directions sent through the Entune system while you listen to the radio? I was able to hear the instructions only if I selected Bluetooth as my source, but doing that left the cabin quiet... Because I was connected to the system and listening to the radio my phone did not give voice instructions out loud. I really hope this is a setting somewhere that I am missing because that would be a terrible design to not be able to hear the voice unless on bluetooth source IMO....

Secondly - this may be normal or it might just be me, but when I start from a stop in 1st gear no matter how hard I try to be smooth shifting gears, there is a vibration. Doesn't do it in any other gear. Is this normal or has anyone else noticed this?

Welcome! I think the only way to do it is to use bluetooth.

I own a auto trans so I'll let someone lIke @BeaverNation speak to the manual trans issue.

    Congrats on the new truck!

    Oh and :worthless:

This manual transmission takes a little getting used to. Especially 1st gear. I do not have a vibe in first gear though. I seem to have to feather off the clutch in first to get a real smooth transition into second, only gear I really have to do it in. If I don't, I get the bucking associated with a bad shift. It is the 4.3/1 gearing. I don't think u can do what u want with your phone. U could just listen to Pandora or something thru the real app(not thru entune)and use Goggle maps then it would talk thru the music source. This is what I do in my work truck. Why not use the Navi system u paid for?

I don't think you can mix and match. If you used your phone to supply the navigation and music you would be able to hear both and they would be properly mixed (music volume reduced for navigation commands). Same goes if you used the built in radio sources and the built in navigation.

Just need to feather the clutch or be a bit slower releasing it in 1st to avoid the vibration. I know what you're talking about. Bring RPMs up to 1200-1500 (and add a slight amount of gas to keep them there) and release clutch slower than you think you should and there shouldn't be a vibration. Then you can release slightly quicker and find the sweet spot for the truck.

As another person said you will need to feather a little between 1st and 2nd or make it a pretty slow shift due to the difference between those gears.

Another tip is about rev hang. I'm sure you already know to completely come off the gas before pushing the clutch in, but there is also a point not too long after you release the gas that the truck fires off the fuel injectors again. If you clutch in during this time you will experience massive rev hang. So the best shifts are pushing the clutch in immediately as your foot comes off the gas.

Thanks for the tips.. TBH, it's just easier for me to use google maps. Takes a fraction of the time to use than entering or looking up a POI or address with the nav system. I can look items up, save to my maps and just simply click my places and go to where I want. I really like to be able to have my texts read while driving, but not being able to hear google maps is kinda a big bummer. I use it often to avoid traffic as I drive across town. I know the nav system has traffic alerts, I guess I need to invest the time to try to use it to see if it has the same functionality.

As far as the vibration coming from a dead stop, I feel like I would have been able to figure out how to take off without the vibration by now. I've tried every which way of take off and they all have it. I do not experience the vibration shifting to any other gear.

Yes while I do like the JBL system I'd gladly have opted out of Nav feature if I could get it without and even save a few hundred bucks. In-vehicle Nav is pretty much worthless. Waze and other apps on phone are far superior and will have the latest updates. I think entune comes up a bit short on most of the apps they offer. Also the voice command system is particularly frustrating... I've followed the manual and trained the voice, it still can't figure shit out. It's really kind of a bad joke.
