    Where do I begin...

I've always enjoyed driving a fuel sipping Honda. I never understood why someone would daily drive a pickup. It's not real comfortable, it gets horrible MPG and every time someone moves they ask you to help  So when I started my decorative concrete business eight years ago, I realized that I needed a truck. I searched high and low for the perfect truck. I didn't just want any pickup, it had to be a PreRunner with a V6. I ran across an ad in the paper that didn't have a photo, but had a pretty good description and decided to check it out. The guy on the phone spoke with a Spanish accent and said that once I pull up to the four way stop, I'll see the truck on the right. So low and behold, I pull up to see a Black TRD Tacoma! My favorite color and TRD package to boot!! I run up to his door, filled with excitement and proceed to explain "I'm the guy here to look at your truck". He said "My truck? It's not for sale. The guy across the street has one though..." As I turned around, I see this beige PreRunner with a for sale sign on it. As I turn back, he sees the look of despair on my face and I apologise for bothering him. He replied with "Go ahead and check out his truck, then come talk to me when you get done. I may consider selling it." Come to find out, I catch the guy off guard and buy his truck for $9,000 (two grand less than trade in value). The beige one was $8,500 and had a salvage title. I wasn't sure at first driving something like this, but I loved it after the first week! It was so cool to be able to drive through construction sites without a problem. It looked great and, the women really loved it too ;) I ended up selling off my business and getting back into Hondas. With gas prices reaching near $5.00 at the time, I felt it was a wise decision. I started buying and selling cars with the money I made off the truck. Couple of years later I started racing with SCCA in a Honda Fit, and then found a private Gymkhana event to run and picked up an Integra Type R. That kept me busy for several years. But once the wife and I purchased our first home, I started realizing that I needed to get another truck. Too many things that needed to be done around the house and I had to wait for a friend to lend me a pickup. I put it off and continued to spend money on parts and tires and fund my addiction to track abuse. Then the wife and I have our first born. A beautiful little girl. My hobby suddenly doesn't mean that much to me anymore. But as long as I'm driving a Honda, I'll continue to hang out at car shows and race events. I know this isn't the best thing for my family, and decide to look for another Tacoma...

I ended up getting the attention of a co-worker who knew someone who had a "Big Tacoma" and was nice enough to give the guy a call. Turns out he was getting ready to list it on craigslist that night! I was blessed enough to scoop up a 2002 TRD Tacoma V6 in pretty good condition for no less than six grand! It needs some work, but nothing I can't handle. The baby seat barely fits in the XtraCab, but this isn't the baby-mobile. :D

I've only been reading around this site for a few days, and have learned so much. I have a grocery list of maintenance that needs to be done. To start I'll be cutting my own XtraCab window latchs over the weekend if the storm doesn't hit us thanks to Rusty White Taco
