New to this site. Bought a new 2012 Tacoma 4X4 fully loaded with the TRD off road package and have less than 5K on the truck. I noticed a lean to the drivers side on the rear. Took it to the dealer and told them about it and they said they were going to replace the LH rear spring. I know the Taco lean was common in the early gen 2 Tacoma's, but is it coming back with the new Tacos? I had a 1998 Taco 4X4 Limited Gen 1 Taco, and Toyota bought it back from me because of a frame corrosion prob. I would rather have it back than the new one. Starting to think the second gen Tacos are crap! By the way I have installed the 5100 Bilstein lift on the truck and it still leans.

I never had this prob with the 98. Put 220K miles on her and we went through hell and didn't have any probs. This is annoying for a new truck! Didn't they fix this prob years ago?

    your new.

shocks wont fix the lean, most fixes are easy if you search for them. having had 2 2nd gens, if the lean is the biggest issue would you not call that a win?

raptors have frame bending, dodges are losing trannys at 50k and interiors are plastic junk. chevy, well i have never had one but a quick search on google names many "issues" worst than a lean. if it is in the back go get a 1/2in block and install it under the leaf pack. or upgrade the leaf packs for a few $$.

you have a truck holding between 60-70% value after 5 years, plus people can not find these trucks used because no one wants to sell them. i sold mine to a guy that offered me 28k after almost 4 years. i only paid 31k.

im off my soap box but think and search before you bash something on a forum about the one item you are bashing.

    sorry for the thread jack

all the weight from the gas tank and driver are on the left side. so the springs tend to wear out and sag quicker on that side. Im pretty sure they never addressed it.

If it doesnt look like this \/\/\/\/ Then i wouldnt worry.

Im not bashing Toyota's. That is the only truck that I would drive versus an American Gov owned company vehicle. All that I have driven since I was able to drive was a Toyota 4X4. Have an 1986 Toy that's all lifted with a V-8 in it. I am just saying that Toyota is not what it used to be, quality wise that is.

Exactly, they are by no means perfect, no vehicle is; but are a damn sight better than a Colorado or Ranger. The Tacoma is the bestselling midsize for a reason. I never noticed a lean on mine but never pay attention to stuff like that really.

I tend to be a picky person when I spend over 30K for a new truck that is supposed to last me for awhile

Other than that, I have no complaints. I think the dealer has enough to deal with so they will make all well. Love the truck!

actually ia have an 89 and the ass sags on it, all the old runners did most pickups did as well. toyota has always weighted cost verse what the average customer will use the truck for.

it is a true 1/2 ton nothing more

Had 3 Tacomas ('01, '05, '10) and none of them 'leaned'. I never noticed anyone else's either... but I wasn't looking for that, either.

Well then maybe you should have done you're homework before buying? I researched these trucks for about a year before making my decision, watched hours and hours of videos and read hundreds of reviews on consumer reports and kelly blue book. I have no regrets, truck has been nothing but good to me.
