I have been looking for a small pick up for the last few months to make my 80 mi commute with during the winter and yesterday I found it a 1998 tacoma 2.7 4x4 single cab 5 speed with 138,000 on the clock. I am a ford guy and that is all I have owned. I have never had anything smaller than a f150. I currently have a 2014 powerstroke which was my reasoning for buying this truck I did not want to drive that new truck in the New York winters with all the salt that is used here. Any way I have never owned a toyota nor has any of my friends so I don't know much about them other than what I have heard that they are probably the most reliable small pickup on the road. I guess other than the dreaded frames which on the truck I just got is pretty mint especially here in ny. I have always liked the looks of these trucks and now that I own one I like it even more. I bought it from a body shop where the guy also buys and sells cars so I was not able to find out much about the trucks past which bothers me quite a bit but it looked nice and drove pretty good so I decided to jump in. It's still at the shop and I won't have it until next Monday because they have to get it inspected then I have to go pick it up with a trailer because I won't have time to put it on the road for a little while. I will be picking it up next Monday and can't wait to get it on the road. Hoping it falls in to the trend of being a great little reliable truck. Mainly I hope I can just keep the rust off it. I have heard a lot of horror stories of people's frames going out in less than 30,000 miles but they were still in the frame warranty which I am not. Sorry for the long post but I am excited to be part of the brotherhood now

Welcome, and if you accept the fact that this is a 4 cylinder small truck, you will love it. Should get around 24+ mpg depending, and it is fun to drive. Lot's of fun mods you can do as well over time. That engine is great and fairly easy to work on yourself.
