    3 times a year...drive on average 30k a year.

Draining the hosing with that piece of shit plastic thing they give you makes a complete mess!!

We are producing more right now. Moving to a new manufacturer in the not to distant future so the supply issues can be eliminated.

I figured I’d wait 2 weeks for a reply. I woke up with 15 replies and no one raked me over the coals. Thanks all for all the valuable input.
Glad to hear it has made it through the winters in the climates harsher than mine.

I should update the poll to include the F-103s. At first it wasn’t on my radar but the low profile nipple seems like a better statistical gamble to give it more clearance above the frame.

The dealership told me the factory recommended interval was every 10k miles! I love the truck too much to wait that long. I struggled to go 3k with conventional in my last truck. I may make it 5k with the synthetic in this one, but it’s doubtful. I have the old school mindset that the best thing you can do is religiously swap the oil out. Thus, I’ll get good use out of the valve.

I never trust Techs (no offense if any are on here and providing feedback). I just believe if you want something done right you do it yourself. This way I avoid having to replace an oil pan cause the new guy tech got assigned oil changes, used an impact driver to save time, & stripped the plug threads. This seems like a set it & forget it option which will let me fill containers without a pan.

    Thanks again all.

Because I change every 5k miles but have the dealer do the 10k changes.

    Understandable.

For an easy, no-tool oil change on a 3rd Gen, some one should sell a Fumoto valve combined with an oil filter relocation kit.

You are throwing money down the drain changing the oil at less than a 10k interval...these don't have an old school SBC with loose tolerances and only made to last 75-100k mi.

I've had them for a long time in other vehicles, but I pulled the F103N after a while in the Taco. I wasn't comfortable with how far it hung down, and even though I had skids, one hard hit that deflected the skid enough could ruin my day. Just not worth the risk to me. I may do the low profile one in the future (F103)

Look up the Stahlbus drain valve. It's a spring loaded ball seat. Comes w a hose and Schrader style fitting. Much lower profile and German Engineering, that's what I went with.

    OME and worth every penny.
They sound like a nice feature and I hear nothing but good about the valves.

That said. They scare me. I've always thought I'd be the one to knock it off running up on a curb or in a hole.

I have one installed, it’s great. So far, no problems. If somehow a person manages to fuck up SO bad that their drain valve is in danger, it will likely be the least of the problems, as the entire front end of the truck has probably fallen off.

I've had one on my 4 banger about 2 years now, been very happy. I think I've got the low profile one, and it sits in a pretty protected area behind a cross member.

I do have an aftermarket skid, and the valve makes draining super easy and the skid can stay put. No dicking around trying to get a wrench or socket it there. Saves minimal time but no mess and one less tool to remember.

Not super concerned about corrosion, but living in a heavily salted area during the winter I'll probably pull it off every few years for a closer inspection.

I do keep the OG plug in the center console just in case.
