So I've never carried knives before but have been in many situations where I could have used one............no not fights or any shit like that(i got guns for that;)) just camping, fishing, working on stuff, etc.

I want a good all purpose every day carry knife. Dont wanna break the bank as I already do on my tacoma:D. Im new to the whole knife scene......I do know of the common brands.........I've searched alot on here and seen some cool looking ones but really wanna hear some feedback on my specific needs. Plus I feel that there may be some other guys lurking or on here that might like to hear some more opions on cuttlery.

So gimme a reason to spend some more cash......thanks.

Look at the Spyderco Delica. They can be picked up for a fair price on Amazon

first off all, find out the knife laws in your state... some states have laws about concealing vs. openly, and even allowable blade lengths can vary by municpal ordinances and crap like that...

    1) join "kniferights" to help fight the aforementioned... ;)
    https://www.kniferights.org/

    2) many options to choose from, ..am assuming you're looking for a pocket folder w/ clip, ...2-3" should be enough for general purpose in a compact size...

    3) spydero, kersaw, ...amongst others are some quality brands, but not the cheapest...

Benchmade are a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. I have around 150 knives in my collection and Benchmade will hold up to anything you can throw at it. A side note about the quality of steel they use... My current edc benchmade has D2 steel, the steel the machines that stamp most other blades are made out of, and I have never had to sharpen it. Still as sharp as the day I bought it, and I use the shit out of my knives.
    Good luck in your choice!

Looks pretty well covered... While I'm not a big fan of Kershaw, I've got SOG, Cold Steel, and Gerber as well as a few others.
My Gerber multi tools have been great, the knives garbage, but admittedly, a $30 Gerber is a $30 Gerber and it's as good as any $30 knife.
My SOG Vulcan was a nice knife, and the edge held for a long time, but I have not been successful in restoring that factory edge.
My Cold Steel Recon has been my EDC for over a year now and it has been a good tool and sharpens up nicely.

    I also wanted to say...

In before the Busse fanbois :D

Seriously... it's hard to top a Busse, but not many have the disposable income or justification for their cost.
But I am a fanboi of RAT/ESEE and I really like my ESEE-5 and ESEE-6.

I've carried a benchmade griptalion for years. Tried other knives but find myself always coming back to it. I really like the axis lock that most benchmades come with, it's something that has really grown on me. Also i like the weight of this particular knife, not to heavy.

Head down to your local hunting/fishing store and check out the knives. There will be a few from the gun companies for less than 20$ with good designs and relatively soft steel. You can beat the crap out of them and sharpen them easily. You can pay more if you want but if you know how to sharpen a knife there's no point imo.

I've got a cheap Gerber that's been really good to me so far. It's a small paraframe knife and it's put up with a lot of abuse. I got it from the TW christmas exchange 2 years ago. TW FTMFW :D

I am a huge fan of Benchmade. All the benchmade knives I have owned have always been top notch. They will also return it to factory sharpness if you send it in to them.

    BENCHMADE!!

the guy saying D2 steel stays sharp forever..not so in my world. by nature steel folds over and dulls with use..unless the laws of physics stop in his existence. i have a knife made from D2 tool steel. i do LOVE IT. very durable edge..but it is also the most difficult to sharpen (for me). cutting open boxes, and taking the hide off of an elk..brutal. i had to sharpen my D2 blade about 4-5 times while skinning an elk..thursday :D i love my knives shaving sharp..if i can get it there.

anyways..i carry a Benchmade every single day. my current blade is made from 154Cm steel. much easier to sharpen..i can shave with this one. easier to dull too.

my next knife will be a ZT blade. i love that tiger pattern blade!

CRKT makes great EDC knives. I've carried the same one in my flightsuit for the seven years and only had to worry about sharpening it.

I carry two knives on me at all times. One small on my keychain which is a spyderco. Love that knife. But there is also one that i clip into my pocket which I use at least once a day. It's a buck knife "rush" buck isn't usually a name you associate quickly with "quality" but I have to admit, for a guy who ones tons of knives, this one holds up. I'm actually on my second rush because I lost my first one.
As for other brands to look at, I also love SOG knives. I have a few of their nice sheath knives and I actually split wood logs with one of them.
