Hey all, I’m a new guy here. Just purchased my very first Toyota (I’m a Chevy guy). I have a 2006 4.0 Pre Runner with 232k miles. I purchased the truck from a friend and it’s been well taken care of to say the least. However, as all vehicles as the miles accumulate so do the issues.
I’m having transmission shudder at about 45 to 50 mph that doesn’t last long but recently started happening. What the main issue has been is setting at a red light or stop sign, brake applied and in drive it will “jump” if you will like someone bumped me from behind. So I joined this forum to help me along the way to handle these issues as they arise. As I said I’m a Chevy guy and I’m mechanically inclined. I grew up dirt track and go kart racing, worked on all of my own vehicles from motors to transmissions. Now that I have a Toyota I’m totally unfamiliar with these transmissions. Apologies for the long post but any advice on where to start would be appreciated. I’m looking into changing the filter and fluid to see if that might help out. Or is it even worth it from the symptoms I’ve described? Again I appreciate the welcome and look forward to being a part of Toyota World.

For members with the issue as I’m having trouble with can you tag me in other posts you’ve came across that could help. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Try posting your question in the 2nd Gen section, you’ll probably get more responses.

Is indeed, I’ve already gotten a response to the thread in the 2nd gen category. So hopefully it’ll lead to something I can work with. I’ve always want one of these truck wish it was a 4wd but I’m good with this one. My intention is to eventually have the motor built with a small turbo or procharger, lower it a tad with suspension that can handle some turns rather fast. This one is already good the way she is. I just want a nice lil road princess with some power.
