Hello everyone. Just picked up a 2004 Tacoma SR5 4cyl 4x4 5speed 150k. Bought hoping to fix it up a bit. Would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on it. Probably the most appealing part about this truck is the new frame. Tacoma World seems like a great place for inspiration and I thought it be good idea to join up. Would love to lift it and maybe install some of this solo Motorsport shock hoops in the rear. That’s pretty much all i got. Lol

yeah you definitely need some new suspension on that thing lol, looks like the rust got it bad. Good thing you got a new frame on it, take care of that frame though because the new ones are just as likely to rust out as the old ones...if they aren't treated properly.

FOR. SURE. I live in Chicago so I’m not trying to go too crazy. I really just want to work on project. I definitely want to take advantage of that new frame. However, I’ve driven smoother roads in Iraq.

Fluid Film the undercarriage before winter, they say, but what do I know they haven't invented rust in Arizona yet.

oh my that IL dept of roads is something else!

recently drove US 20 from Rockford to the Mississippi river to avoid the toll road to Iowa
    that highway was horrible!

my state is no better with the roads either
they put down brand new concrete and its still bumpy and uneven as crap
wheel tax money spent real well right there

New frame looks good! It's surprising to me that they didn't replace the shocks or front springs when they did the frame replacement.

they do as little as they have to and still think they can tax the wallet
i think they just don't care about safety
at least that is my experience lately with Toyota 1-800 customer care

I just got approved for a frame replacement and I was worried that they would scrap all my new suspension parts and replace with OEM Toyota stuff. Guess I don't have that to worry about!

if i were you i would push them to have that new frame hot dipped galvanized first for better internal protection so there would possibly be less of a chance of the paint failing again in so many years

one of the quotes from an FJ40 page
See any military vehicles rotted out like commercial vehicles! Why do you think most resto shop are using it know.

They'll replace, or not replace, whatever you tell them to. If you have newer suspension components, they wouldn't touch them unless for some reason they had to, like the bolts had already rusted.
