New Guy with Tire Question

Yes, 265/70/17 fits on stock suspension with factory mud guards and the TRD wheels. No rubbing for me, but they MAY slightly rub the front mud guards depending on how your caster is set from the factory. If so, you can just take the front ones off and run without or pick up some Rokblokz.

Can’t speak on the speedometer from a technical standpoint, but I’ve not noticed any issues or changes. Like you said, only 1” taller (height) on the tire so negligible at best.

 

I’ve had Cooper Discoverer AT3s on every truck I’ve ever owned. Quiet on road good off road. That being said I’m strongly considering Falken Wild Peaks when I need a new set.

 

265/70/17 Falkens can rub. They do for some and not for others but I am one of those that is experiencing it.

All over the road when wet. Took them back and went with something else.

Go Falken or Coopers.

 

Do you have the mud guards on the front of the wheel well?

 

No, they rub on the corner of the air dam as well as on the little hump that sticks out from the inside of the mud flaps. Just a little when turning sharply.

I ask because this heavily limits your options when shopping for new tires. If you want to do any off roading whatsoever, I would recommend an LT tire. Especially as there are so many LT tires on the market that are just as comfortable as Passenger tires (which are designed for sedans, mini vans, and pushed to their limit to be used on some trucks/suvs).

Not to mention that many LT tires are more durable than P tires. There are other things to consider that make far more of a difference in the feel of the tires. For example, load rating/index.

For example, you will notice the difference between a C-rated 275/70R17 KO2 and it's slightly heavier D-rated big brother, 285/70R17, far before you notice any difference in feel between a tire being LT or P...

 

the only off roading my truck will be involved with is gravel roads and parking lots we have to go thru to race mountain bikes. I love the aggressive look of off road vehicles, and I don't ever fault anyone on something the love to do, but I personally would not do that to this nice of a truck. now, give me a side by side or a dedicated off road machine, and I would be happy to get that muddy. we spend a lot of time at Windrock Park in TN for our daughter to ride mountain bikes, and they have some wicked machines there. it makes me miss my RZR900 and atvs every time I am there.

 

I second the hankook dynapro AT-M. Very capable and great price point. I think they could charge a lot more for them actually. I think Hankook is a very underrated and often overlooked tire co

 

Can you post a link to a 275/70R17 KO2 C-rated? Pretty sure that combo isn't available, as that size is only available in an E- load

There's no 275/70/17 C-load KO2

The only C-load KO2s are 265/70/17 (and they'll fit stock suspensions) and 255/75/17

Cooper Discoverer AT3s come in C-load though, just FYI

 

My mistake, you guys are right. I meant to say 285's. 285/70/17 KO2 is available in both a E and C load.
